AstaReal® CWS25 is made in the USA from cultivation to extraction. The algae are cultivated in our proprietary fully enclosed indoor cultivation facility in Moses Lake, WA. Indoor cultivation allows optimal algal productivity and harvest timing for best astaxanthin content and stability. AstaReal® Astaxanthin is then extracted from whole algae using a solvent free supercritical fluid carbon dioxide extraction method. The resulting natural astaxanthin oil contains 10% AstaReal® Astaxanthin together with naturally occurring algal lipids. This 10% astaxanthin oil is then microencapsulated in Japan by AstaReal’s parent company, Fuji Chemical Industries Ltd., Co. in order to provide superior aqueous dispersion.
- FAQs
What color AstaReal® CWS25?
AstaReal® CWS25 imparts a translucent orange to red color in liquid formulations. This color makes products containing natural astaxanthin easily recognizable, and indicates that astaxanthin is active and working.
Is AstaReal® CWS25 vegetarian friendly?
Yes. AstaReal® CWS25 is extracted directly from the green freshwater microalgae, Haematococcus pluvialis, which is a plant-based source.
Why are the algae used to make AstaReal® astaxanthin grown indoors?
Conventional outdoor cultivation methods expose algae to variable weather and a higher risk of biological and chemical contamination. This can affect algal growth, astaxanthin production, and the final quality and stability of natural astaxanthin.
AstaReal has optimized Haematococcus pluvialis cultivation for more than 30 years since pioneering the natural astaxanthin industry. Today, AstaReal’s state-of-the-art closed indoor cultivation facilities in the USA and in Sweden nurtures algae using the best science and technology. This consistently provides optimal growth conditions for our algae, helps reduce contamination risk, and allows precisely timed harvests to maximize yield, stability, and quality.
