Extracted from the pulp of the fruit is an oil exceptionally rich in chlorophyll and plenty of vitamins, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties which has became one of the most prized ingredients for products intended to address aged skin with sensitiveness. The medium to dark green color of the oil is due to the high content of chlorophyll underneath the peel and requires around 200 kilograms of the pulp to produce one liter of Acai oil.

It is also possible to extract a low quality Acai oil, pressed from the dry seeds of the berry after pulp is removed for juice making. This oil is brownish in color and carries none of the nutrients found in the rich green oil cold pressed from fresh pulp.
