- Additional Information
- Used for thousands of years olive oil is a superb emollient with soothing, protective and hydrating properties. A good all round source of oleic and linoleic acids and vitamins E. Used in face, skin and hair products, soap and lip balms. Olive oil can be used in a range of skin preparations including massage and bath oils, moisturizers, soaps and shampoos. Olive oil has outstanding regenerative properties and is an effective product to regulate the moisture and restructure of skin and hair. Due to its content in fatty acids, Olive oil is also a good hair stimulant. Olive has a high level of oleic acid, provides resistance to oxidation and is an excellent moisturizer. The concept of olive oil having antiaging properties stems from some evidence that diets high in olive oil may help prevent heart disease. There are also a small number of animal tests showing that topically applied olive oil can protect against UVB damage. One of these studies indicates that olive oil topically applied after UVB exposure can effectively reduce UVB-induced murine skin tumors, possibly via its antioxidant effects in reducing DNA damage by reactive oxygen species, and that the effective component may be labile to UVB.
