WHERE TO USE

Touchstone T-2000 can be used on most structurally sound and dimensionally stable, dry surfaces such as plywood, cement backer board, oil or rust free metal, resilient flooring, concrete and masonry surfaces, and existing ceramic tile. Touchstone T-2000 is ideal for setting limestone, granite, marble, ceramic mosaics, heavy flooring tile, ribbed or button backed pavers and most tiles where other adhesives are impractical. Touchstone T-2000 offers high bond strength which makes it suitable for both heavy duty and non-rigid flooring. Can be used for interior and exterior use.

WORKING CHARACTERISTICS

At recommended working temperatures 70°F to 80°F, Touchstone T-2000 is a smooth, buttery paste that is easy to work; the normal working life is 2 hours. At temperatures from 80°F to 90°F the working life is reduced and may be set sooner. At temperatures from 60°F to 70°F it becomes harder to spread and curing time is lengthened. T-2000 should be removed from mixing container immediately after mixing and spread onto working surface. Once the material begins to set, it should be discarded as proper bonding will not be accomplished.

LIMITATIONS

  • Minimum material and substrate temperature should be 60 F.
  • Do not thin, solvents will prevent proper cure.  Allow at least 16 hour cure prior to grouting.
  • Min. age of concrete must be 21 days depending upon curing & drying conditions.
  • Porous substrates must be tested for moisture-vapor transmission.
  • Not to be used on any surface exhibiting hydrostatic pressure.
  • Material is a vapor barrier after cure.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Setting surfaces must be clean, sound, and dry. Remove dust, laitance, PREPARATION: grease, curing components, impregnators, waxes, foreign particles and disintegrated materials.

MIXING

Pre-mix each component. Mix "A" and "B" components thoroughly for 5 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom of the can to insure thorough mixing. Incomplete mixing can result in uncured product. This may stain porous material like stone. Mixing may be accomplished by hand or by low speed (150 rpm) drill and paddle taking care not to generate excessive heat in the mix which will shorten open time. Mix only the quantity that can be used in that open time. When mixing less than full units, proportion ratio 3:1 by weight of A and B component.

Application

Spread the mixed adhesive on the surface to be tiled with a notched trowel large enough to give 100% coverage when tile is pressed into adhesive. A 1/16-in. x 1/16in. (1.5 mm x 1.5mm) square notched trowel is adequate for dot mounting or pregrouted ceramic mosaics on a smooth floor surface (Coverage is approximately 102 sq. ft per gallon). A 1/8-in. x 1/8-in. notched trowel should be used for back mounting ceramics, shallow ribbed backed tile on rough floor surfaces and smooth surface wall installations (Coverage approximately 51 sq. ft per gallon). A 1/4-in. x 1/4-in. notched trowel is required for rough wall surfaces or floor installations using heavy ribbed back quarry tile or pavers (Coverage is approximately 25 1/2 sq.ft per gallon) . At temperatures of 70F and higher, allow at least 16 hours to elapse before grouting. Temperatures less than 70F allow at least 24 hours before grouting.

  • MIXING RATIO: 3 parts "A" to 1 part " B" by weight.
  • WORKING TIME: Greater than 2 hours (70°F  to 77°F).
  • CLEAN UP: In case of spills or leaks, wear suitable protective equipment, contain spill, collect with absorbent material, and transfer to suitable container. Ventilate area. Avoid contact. Dispose of in accordance with current, applicable local, state, or federal regulations.

Applications

  • Setting heavy duty stone tiles
  • Tiling shower floors and walls, boat decks, elevators, steel-cased stairs
  • Installing countertops
  • Setting stone on outdoor fireplace or indoor stone fireplace surrounds
  • Adhering stone to stainless steel or aluminum
  • Setting pool copings
  • Working with chemical-resistant areas and other difficult bonding jobs
  • Wood, backerboard, metal, concrete, plastic, and other difficult to bond areas
  • Setting over existing tiles
  • Great for uneven surfaces
  • Exterior applications

Keep container tightly closed. Use only with adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing vapor. Wash thoroughly after handling. If contact occurs wipe off contamination and wash immediately with soap and water. Contaminated leather goods should be destroyed.

FIRST AID

  • Eyes: In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention.
  • First aid-inhalation: If effects occur, remove to fresh air. If not breathing give artificial respiration, preferably mouthto-mouth. If breathing is difficult give oxygen. Get medical attention.
  • First aid- skin: In case of skin contact, wash immediately and thoroughly with soap and water. If conditions persist, consult a physician.
  • First aid- ingestion: Consult a physician immediately.
