Ascinin® Anti Skin 1240

1 of 3 products in this brand
Anti-Skinning Agent for Solvent-Based AlkydsAscinin® Anti-Skin 1240 is a MEKO- and oxime-free anti-skinning agent for oxidatively cured solvent-based low VOC coating systems and pigment pastes. This solution helps relieve regulatory concerns surrounding MEKO in Europe , Canada , and other regions. MEKO-free anti-skins further enhance sustainability when used with Borchi® OXY-Coat cobalt-free high-performance catalysts for solvent-based short, medium, and long oil alkyd coatings or Borchi® Dragon high-performance cobalt-free catalyst for solvent-based high solids, long oil alkyd coatings. Combining Ascinin® Anti-Skin 1240 and Borchi® OXY-Coat in a solvent-based high gloss white trim alkyd paint formulation results in lower dry times and yellowing compared to a formulation with MEKO and cobalt alternatives Other MEKO-free anti-skins include: ● Ascinin® Anti-Skin 0444 ● Ascinin® Anti-Skin 0445 ● Borchi® Nox 1640 ● Borchi® Shield .

CASE Ingredients Features
Features
  • Improves the storage stability of solvent-based oxidatively cured coating systems, printing inks and pigment pastes by preventing skin-formation on the surface of the coating while still in the container.
  • Controls surface dry retardation and keeps the film open longer to ensure deeper penetration of oxygen to lower film layers which promotes through dry and improves flow properties.
  • Can eliminate excessive dry time retardation with phenolics or the toxicity of oximic compounds.

Dosage
Ascinin® Anti Skin 1240 can be added to the system in any formulation step. A preliminary dilution is not suggested. We recommend its addition in a final production step after adding the siccatives to the formulation. The required amount of Ascinin® Anti Skin 1240 depends on type of binder and quantity of the used driers. Usual amounts for coating systems based on alkyds are approx. 0.2 to 0.8 % by weight on total formulation. In case of substitution of Butanonoxime we recommend starting with adding half the amount of the substituted Butanonoxime and then optimize the addition rate on basis of the obtained results.
