Features & Benefits
- Product Highlights
Over time, the garden’s grass gets compacted and the roots have a harder time growing and developing. On top of that, a layer of thatch (non decomposed vegetal rests and soil) is formed on the surface of the grass.
The thatch has a very low permeability, thus the water, oxygen and fertilizers can not reach the roots, impeding their growth and affecting their health. Moreover, thatch provides excellent conditions for fungus to grow.
This is why it is necessary to keep a good maintenance of the grass by breaking and collecting the thatch, aerating the soil and then top dressing it. Top dressing (applying gravel) improves the soil quality and health.
- Properties
Top dressing consists on applying a fine layer of a substrate specially designed for this – gravelover the grass’ surface. Gravel improves the soils structure: sandy soils become more able to retain moisture, while clay soils’ drainage improves, thus helping root development.
Another benefit of top dressing is the balancing of the soil, as it can be used to fill any hole that may be there.
Gravel also stimulates the plant to produce new sprouts, which results in a more dense covering that can fight undesired herbs and fungus’ appearance better.
Applications & Uses
- Application
The GRAVEL is applied spreading it in a 1cm layer over the grass’ surface. It must be applied at least once per year, either on spring or autumn. A yearly application is sufficient to ensure a healthy development of the field, even when sportive activities are take place on it.
It can also be used to reseed, as the gravel will cover the seeds, protecting them from being carried away by wind or water.
BURÉS PROFESIONAL, S.A. recommends realized a top dressing every spring to ensure the field’s health.
