100% DeoxIT® Shield S100L, S-Series
- Which DeoxIT® Product do I Use
- Use DeoxIT® D-Series contact cleaner on surfaces that have been in service or have visual signs of oxidation. Contains 20% active cleaner.
- Use DeoxIT® Gold G-Series conditioner on new surfaces, and gold plated surfaces. Ideal for preventing dendrite/fretting corrosion. Protects both surface and base metals. Ideal for critical applications. Contains >1% active cleaner.
- Use DeoxIT® Shield S-Series to protect surfaces from severe environments (humidity, salts, pollutants, sulfur, etc.). Use on clean surface. Contains 0% active cleaner.
- Directions for Use
1. Turn o_x001e_, unplug the device.
2. On surfaces that have been in service or have visual signs of oxidation or corrosion pre-treat with DeoxIT® D-Series contact cleaner (see Data Sheet DeoxIT® D-Series).
3. Next, select a DeoxIT® Shield S-Series applicator (pen, wipes, needle, etc.) that is best for your application, see #8 below. Apply a small amount to the metal contact/connector surface.
4. Operate the part/device to help distribute the DeoxIT® Shield. Test for compatibility before use.
5. Re-apply DeoxIT® Shield to metal surface and wipe o_x001e_ excess. It is important to wipe o_x001e_ excess, DeoxIT® Shield works best when a thin coating is on metal surfaces. Wait two minutes before turning on equipment. Test for compatibility before use.
6. For extended protection: For severe environments (humidity, salts, pollutants, sulfur, outdoor applications, etc.) and to apply an additional environmental barrier, apply one of the DeoxIT® Greases. See Data Sheets DS-L260 and DS-M260 for additional information
7. Applicators:
a) Squeeze Tube (#S100L-2C): Used by OEMs for maintenence kits. Provides small drop to surface.
b) Pen - felt tip (#S100P): Precision application, slight abrasive action. Provides liquid through felt tips. Replacement tips avaialble.
c) Oiler Pen (#S100L-P6C): Very precise application of _x001f_uid. Provides pin-point application of liquid. Ideal for hard to reach applications.
d) Oiler Squeeze Bottle (#S100L-25C): Similar to Oiler Pen, except in squeeze bottle.material). For connections easily accessible and smooth surfaces, i.e.
video connections, batteries, etc.
f ) Wipes (#K-S50W): Jar with 50 wipes (thick cotton material). For connections easily accessible accessible and smooth and irregular surfaces, i.e. edge connectors, industrial connections.
g) Brush (#S100L-2DB): Small 7.4 mL bottle with brush applicator. General purpose for applying liquid with a nylon brush. Ideal for applying to and inner surface with wiping action. Care should be taken to keep clean.
h) Bulk Bottles (#S100L-2, S100L-12, S100L-32): For production applications. Contact CAIG for information.

Rating, 100% DeoxIT®: Any of the above that fall into the “Fair” and “Poor” categories should be thoroughly tested for compatibility. They may be compatible, however, it will depend on the manufacturing process of the materials. Acrylics, ABS, and polycarbonate, if under stress, may show slight cracking or crazing damage. Test for compatibility before use. On porous materials; i.e. wood, rubber, cloth, some phenolics, semi-cured materials, no liquid or solvents should be used. Occasionally, DeoxIT® will get onto unwanted surfaces, quickly wipe o_x001e_ surface and usually no damage will occur.- Product Selection Guides
