For the Interior Installation of:
- Polypropylene (Actionbac®), woven, hot melt, latex unitary, needle-punch, urethane foam (Enhancer™), polyurethane laminate (Lifespan®), sponge-rubber, jute, and latex foam, commercial carpet pads and felt-back sheet vinyl.
For Use Over:
- APA underlayment grade plywood sanded oriented strand board (OSB), hardboard, poured in place gypsum underlayment (primed) and terrazzo.
- Do not use vinyl-backed products.
- Product Notes
- Concrete moisture levels must not exceed 5 lbs./1,000 sq.ft./24 hrs. (ASTM F1869) or 85% RH (ASTM 2170).
- Always check with the flooring and cushion manufacturer for their allowable moisture limits.
- Do not exceed the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Check with the flooring manufacturer for the recommended substrates for their products.
- The trowel notches referenced are those typically recommended for the type of flooring being installed.
- Consult flooring manufacturers for their specific trowel recommendations.
- Surface conditions and type of flooring will ultimately determine trowel notch size and coverage.
- After installation, restrict foot traffic and moving of heavy objects for 24 to 48 hours.
- Preparation
- Ensure substrate, flooring material and adhesive are acclimated 48 hours before installation and installed at the same temperature and relative humidity (RH) expected during normal use (between 65 - 95 ºF, ≤65% RH).
- Refer to the flooring manufacturer’s specific recommendations.
- Ensure adequate ventilation during installation.
- Subfloors must be structurally sound, dry, smooth, flat and free of excess moisture/ alkali (≤9) and all substances that might interfere with bonding.
- Ensure proper ventilation and moisture protection under all wood subfloors.
- Repair cracks, holes, high spots and irregularities.
- Use polymer-modified, cement-based patching compounds.
- Expansion/moving joints must not be filled/covered with flooring.
- Installation
- Spread adhesive uniformly with an appropriate trowel.
- Adhesive ridges should be of sufficient height to achieve full coverage of the substrate and the deepest recesses in the back of the flooring material.
- Place flooring into the adhesive while the adhesive is still fresh.
- The amount of time in which you have to place the flooring will vary with temperature and humidity.
- The higher the temperature and the lower the humidity the faster the adhesive will set.
- Lift flooring periodically to ensure 100% transfer to the substrate and the deepest recesses in the backing of the flooring material.
- Clean Up & Removal
- Fresh Adhesive: Warm soapy water.
- Dry Adhesive: Capitol CL800 adhesive cleaner or mineral spirits sparingly with a clean, white cotton cloth.
- Do not pour cleaner directly onto the flooring.
