Note:
- Recommend following flooring manufacturer’s installation instructions.
- Product Notes
- Do not install solid wood flooring or bamboo below grade.
- Concrete moisture levels must not exceed 3 lbs. /1,000 sq.ft./24 hrs. (ASTM E2-80) or 75% RH (ASTM 2170).
- Wood substrates must be ≤12% moisture content and wood substrate and flooring must not exceed a moisture difference of 3 - 4 %.
- The trowel notches referenced are those typically recommended for the type of flooring being installed.
- Consult flooring manufacturers for their specific trowel recommendations.
- Surface conditions and type of wood flooring will ultimately determine trowel notch size and coverage.
- After installation, restrict foot traffic and moving of heavy objects for 24 to 48 hours.
- Preparation
- Acclimate flooring material according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Ensure substrate, flooring material and adhesive are installed at the same temperature and relative humidity (RH) expected during normal use (between 65 - 95 ºF, ≤65% RH).
- Refer to the flooring manufacturer’s specific recommendations.
- Subfloors must be structurally sound, dry, smooth, flat (≤ 3/16" in 10 ft.) and free of excess moisture/alkali (≤9) and all substances that might interfere with bonding.
- Ensure proper ventilation and moisture protection under all wood subfloors.
- Repair cracks, holes, high spots and irregularities.
- Use polymer-modified, cement-based patching compounds.
- Expansion/moving joints must not be filled/ covered with flooring.
- Ensure adequate ventilation during installation.
- Refer to NWFA.org for additional information as well as wood manufacturer’s installation guidelines.
- Installation
- Clean any adhesive from surface flooring immediately.
- Apply continuous 3/8” bead to studs or framing surfaces.
- Apply 2 about 1/2” apart at panel joints.
- Do not spread over an area larger than can be covered in 30 minutes to avoid skimming over.
- Do not use over the vinyl-coated board.
Fastening:
- Attach gypsum drywall to framing with staples at 6” o.c. around gypsum perimeter and no field fasteners along with interior studs.
- Field fasteners may be eliminated if walls are assembled in the horizontal position.
- After installation, restrict foot traffic and moving of heavy objects for 24 to 48 hours to allow the adhesive to cure properly.
- Premature traffic can cause installation failure.
- The higher the temperature and the higher the humidity the faster the adhesive will cure.
- Clean Up & Removal
- PY30 is a chemical curing adhesive and once dry will form a chemical bond with the flooring surface.
- It is very important to remove this adhesive while it is still fresh and before it begins to cure.
- To clean fresh adhesive from the floor surface, use mineral spirits sparingly with a clean, white cotton cloth.
- Always test on a scrap of flooring material before using it on an installed floor to ensure that the cleaner will not damage the surface.
- Do not pour cleaner directly onto the flooring.
