For the Interior Installation of:
- Pre-finished engineered wood flooring (≤1/2" thick or ≤ 5" wide), pre-finished parquet (dry back) and acoustical cork underlayment roll over on or above grade concrete and APA rated plywood or OSB.
- Do not use to install bamboo, solid wood flooring or cork underlayment under bamboo or solid wood flooring.
- Product Notes
- Concrete moisture levels must not exceed 3 lbs./1,000 sq.ft./24 hrs. (ASTM F1869) or 75% RH (ASTM 2170).
- Wood substrates must be ≤12% moisture content and wood substrate and flooring must not exceed a moisture difference of 3 - 4 %.
- The trowel notches referenced are those typically recommended for the type of flooring being installed.
- Consult flooring manufacturers for their specific trowel recommendations.
- Surface conditions and type of wood flooring will ultimately determine trowel notch size and coverage.
- After installation, restrict foot traffic and moving of heavy objects for 24 to 48 hours.
- Preparation
- Ensure substrate, flooring material and adhesive are acclimated 48 hours prior to installation and installed at the same temperature and relative humidity (RH) expected during normal use (between 65 - 95 ºF, ≤65% RH).
- Refer to the flooring manufacturer’s specific recommendations.
- Ensure adequate ventilation during installation.
- Subfloors must be structurally sound, dry, smooth, flat and free of excess moisture/alkali (≤9) and all substances that might interfere with bonding.
- Ensure proper ventilation and moisture protection under all wood subfloors. Repair cracks, holes, high spots and irregularities.
- Use polymer-modified, cement based patching compounds.
- Expansion/moving joints must not be filled/covered with flooring.
- Installation
- Spread adhesive with the appropriate trowel.
- Place flooring into the adhesive while the adhesive is still fresh.
- The amount of time in which you have to place the flooring will vary with temperature and humidity.
- The higher the temperature and the lower the humidity the faster the adhesive will set.
- Lift flooring periodically to ensure 100% transfer to the substrate and back of the wood flooring.
- Clean Up & Removal
Fresh adhesive:
- Warm soapy water.
Dry adhesive:
- Capitol CL800 Adhesive Cleaner or mineral spirits sparingly with a clean, white cotton cloth.
- Do not pour cleaner directly onto the flooring.
