Features & Benefits

Features & Benefits
  1.   Ceramer and Ceramerplus are high performance polymers and additives based on polyphenylene sulfone (PPSO2).
  2.   Ceramer and Ceramerplus have excellent thermal stability, inherent flame resistance and universal chemical resistance.
  3.  Ceramer and Ceramerplus are processed through hot pressing and sinter technology or used as additive in fluoro polymers and in other high performance thermoplastic polymers.
  4.  The glass transition temperature (Tg) of Ceramer is around 360 ºC. The degree of crystallization for Ceramer as supplied is about 60%.
  5.  Ceramer is a very fine, light beige powder that is available in various grades with different particle sizes.
  6.  The spherical particle shape with a rough, cracked surface, enables the material to form an intimate mechanical bonds with matrix polymers such as fluoro polymers.
  7. The density of Ceramer is 1.44 g/cm3, of Ceramerplus 1.54 g/cm3. The low density of the Ceramer and Ceramerplus enables in compounds a high volume load with little weight  gain.
  8.  The specific surface area of the standard grade Ceramer 20 is about 10 m2/g according to BET measurements.
  9.   As the outstanding organic filler in PTFE compounds Ceramer and Ceramerplus significantly reduce abrasion, wear and creep tendency without affecting the overall temperature and chemical stability of PTFE.

Applications & Uses

Plastics & Elastomers Processing Methods
Applications

Ceramer and Ceramerplus are ideal as reinforcing materials for PTFE and greatly improve the abrasion resistance and creep tendency. The general outstanding chemical and temperature resistance of PTFE are not affected as the properties of Ceramer and Ceramerplus are very similar to those of PTFE.

Ceramer and Ceramerplus can be processed under standard PTFE processing conditions such as compression molding powders or paste extrusion powders. Products with Ceramer offer superior performance of seals, gaskets, slide bearings, cable insulation and abrasion resistant tubing.

Ceramer and Ceramerplus are used successfully in PTFE coating systems. Ceramer enhances the scratch resistance, the hardness and reduces abrasion and wear.

Thermoplastic fluoropolymers such as PFA and ETFE show a drastic reduction in abrasion if Ceramer or Ceramerplus are used as filler.

Ceramer and Ceramerplus are very suitable as a reinforcing agent for thermoplastic polymers, such as LCP, PEEK, PBT, POM, PEI and PESU. It is possible to substantially reduce abrasion and wear by adding Ceramer, and in addition, to raise the pressure resistance.

Metallization of high performance polymers such as PTFE, PFA, LCP, PSU, PEEK, PAI, PESU is drastically improved, when Ceramer and Ceramerplus are used as additive.

Ceramer and Ceramerplus as neat resins cover a wide range of applications where a universal chemical resistance, steam resistance, extremely high service temperature, inherent flame resistance, high hardness, strength and stiffness as well as an excellent surface quality and creep resistance are required.
