Certi-Vex® Guard Clear

1 of 4 products in this brand
Certi-Vex Guard Clear is an innovative, solvent-based, high gloss, non-yellowing, one step styrene acrylic curing compound with a penetrating water repellent silane sealer for use on both new and existing broom finish and decorative concrete. The film forming acrylic cures new concrete to ASTM specifications, while penetrating silane sealer reacts with alkali and moisture within pores and capillaries to form a hydrophobic gel, protecting the concrete from the damaging effects of water and chloride penetration.

Product Type: Curing Compound, Sealer

Directions

Mixing: Certi-Vex Guard Clear is packaged ready to use and does not require any special mixing.

Surface Preparation: If using to cure fresh concrete, ap-ply within two hours of bleed water dissipation when appli-cation will not mar the surface.
If applying as a sealer for older concrete, clean thoroughly with high-pressure water and allow the concrete to thor-oughly dry. Surface must be clean and free from dirt, dust, laitance, oil, grease, paints, curing agents, tilt up bond breakers, or other contaminants that would prevent proper adhesion. Joints to receive joint sealant should be masked or taped off prior to application. Extremely dense surfaces such as burnished trowel finished floors may be given a light acid wash to promote adequate penetration.

Application: Apply uniformly leaving no pinholes or gaps. Do not allow the material to puddle.

Spray Apply: Use a low pressure, solvent resistant, air-less sprayer equipped with a fan nozzle orifice of 0.030 to 0.035” at 1 gpm or a solvent resistant hand pressurized sprayer with a ‘Cats Eye’ nozzle (minimum orifice of 0.032”). The optimum spray pattern is an 8 to 12 inch fan. Hold sprayer tip 8 to 12 inches from the surface of the concrete.

Roller Apply: Use a short nap (1/4” max) solvent resistant roller. An optional second coat may be applied to a tack free surface at right angles to the first.

Cleanup

Clean tools and equipment with ChemMasters Coating Repair, xylene or mineral spirits before material dries.

Technical Details & Test Data

Limitations
  • For outdoor use only.
  • Do not apply unless substrate and ambient tempera-tures are 20°F (-6°C) and rising at time of installation.
  • Do not apply above 90°F (32°C) or below 20°F (-6°C).
  • Do not apply in rain or when rain is expected within 4 hours before or after application.
  • Protect plant life and landscaping from overspray.
  • Quality curing or sealing compounds and floor treat-ments may darken or highlight the subtle color varia-tions naturally present in concrete. When the differ-ence in shading is objectionable consult ChemMasters Technical Department prior to concrete placement
  • Certi-Vex Guard Clear is a penetrating water repel-lent designed to reduce the intrusion of water and salts. It is not a waterproofing membrane and thus cannot be expected to bridge cracks or joints in the concrete.
  • All label precautions and the SDS must be fully understood before using this product. Ensure that you are using the most recent technical data sheet for instructions. Go to www.chemmasters.net for the most up to date information or contact ChemMasters at 800.486.7866 to verify.
