Herbal cosmetics containing an extract from arnica blossoms are described as having a favorable effect on the blood flow in peripheral vessels, an anti-inflammatory effect and also a granulating and epithelizing effect on the tissue.
Increased circulation and reduced venous congestion are due to the inhibiting effect on aggregation of thrombocytes which is produced by the sesquiterpene lactone contained in arnica extracts. The same actives cause the anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting inflammatory cytokines. But also polysaccharides contained in arnica extracts have a modulatory effect on the immune system because they increase phagocytosis and stimulate macrophages.
Herbal active agents have great significance also in pharmacological research. It has been recognized that neither synthesized herbal ingredients nor active substances isolated from plants are equivalent to total complexes extracted from herbs. Synthesis or isolation cannot encompass the multitude of natural accompanying substances that have synergistic properties. The presence of these naturally accompanying substances is what makes effectiveness of complex plant extracts so superior to that of synthesized or isolated individual substances. Cosmetology profits from discoveries and experience in modern phytotherapy and is increasingly using herbal complexes in skin and hair care preparations.
Arnica Oil CLR is a carefully prepared herbal extract which contains the valuable, lipophilic, active constituents of arnica blossoms in conjunction with the synergistic accompanying substances, thus representing a "total" herbal complex.
- Recommended Uses
- Arnica Oil CLR as fatty oil extract from arnica blossoms with properties generally beneficial to the skin is suitable for the preventative herbal care of every type of skin and, moreover, for application to skin poorly supplied with blood.
- Preparations with Arnica Oil CLR are likewise suitable for preventative hair care (in order to keep healthy hair as healthy as possible) and, in addition, for application to scalps with inadequate blood flow.
- It can be used in emulsified and oily skin and hair care preparations.
- Processing
Due to the natural character of the product slight turbidity might occur at temperatures below approx. 20°C. Arnica Oil CLR tolerates short heating to the temperatures required for the manufacture of emulsified preparations. Cosmetics with Arnica Oil CLR have a yellowish (skin oils) to ivory (creams, liquid emulsions) tinge. Cosmetics with Arnica Oil CLR can be perfumed without difficulty.
