Mode of Action

All herbal extracts contained in Hexaplant Richter are described as having anti-inflammatory effects. Fennel extract produces an anti-inflammatory effect and is free from irritants, so it is used for external treatment of inflammations around the eye . In vitro, an anti-mutagenic activity was observed . Hop extract has a soothing effect, and the bitter component, humulon, has proved to inhibit inflammation . The antiphlogistic (anti-inflammatory) effect of camomile extract is due to different terpenoids and flavonoids that penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin . In addition to inflammation-inhibiting effects, camomile extract promotes granulation by stimulating oxidative phosphorylation in the skin . Balm-mint is known for its soothing and spasmolytic effects and has also been reported to produce an anti-viral effect on Herpes simplex . Caffeic acid, contained in balm-mint extract, and mistletoe extracts proved to have antitumoral effects . Mistletoe extract unspecifically stimulates the immune system by stimulating cytokine production . Yarrow extract was found to produce anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial effects, among them against Staphylococcus aureus.

Applications

As polyvalent herbal extract in an aqueous-alcoholic medium, Hexaplant Richter is intended for application to sensitive skin. Also suitable for universal care of every type of skin. Preparations with Hexaplant Richter are likewise suitable for application to sensitive scalps, and for the maintenance care of hair.

It can be used in aqueous and aqueous-alcoholic herbal cosmetics.

Hexaplant Richter may also be incorporated in emulsified preparations (creams, liquid emulsions); these emulsified cosmetics have a brownish-yellow tinge. The intensity of tinge depends on the dosage of Hexaplant Richter and the amount of bases present (oily components, emulsifiers).

Processing

In the manufacture of aqueous-alcoholic preparations Hexaplant Richter is added to the alcohol-water mixture. In the manufacture of bath preparations and shampoos Hexaplant Richter is added to the finished mass. Cosmetics with Hexaplant Richter may be perfumed without difficulty.

Hexaplant Richter is hence to be designated as non-toxic.

Eye irritation potential

Hexaplant Richter has undergone the Draize test. There is no objection to the application of Hexaplant Richter in the vicinity of the eyes.
