- Applications
Acetic Acid is commonly used industrially as a solvent and for production of other chemicals. It is used in production of plastics, pharmaceuticals, dyes, insecticides, silk, rayon, perfume, and etc. It has disinfectant properties and is used for a variety of medical applications. It is widely used by the food industry for commercial pickling operations, and production of condiments. It is used as coagulating agent in the rubber industry. The largest use of Acetic Acid is for production of other chemicals: vinyl acetate monomer (VAM), acetic anhydride, acetic esters, cellulose acetate, and chloroacetic acid. Other applications include: latex coagulant, oil-well acidizer, textile printing.
