Degesch America, Inc. (DAI) was founded in 1977 and is the United States arm of German based Detia Degesch Group. Our corporate headquarters and production facility are situated in the Shenandoah Valley town of Weyers Cave, Virginia. This facility opened on March 15, 1979 and is the only producer of aluminum phosphide (Phostoxin®) and magnesium phosphide (Magtoxin®) fumigants in the United States. Through our nationwide network of Sales and Service Offices we provide a wide range of fumigants, insecticides, rodenticides, grain protectants, safety equipment and training to companies handling raw agricultural commodities and finished food products.

Magtoxin® Fumi-Cel is used to protect stored commodities from damage by insects and other vertebrate pests. Fumigation of stored products with these products in the manner prescribed in the labeling does not contaminate the marketed commodity.

Magtoxin® Fumi-Cel

Phostoxin® Tablet Prepac are used to protect stored commodities from damage by insects. In limited areas, applications of PHOSTOXIN® may be made to control burrowing vertebrate pests. The use of this product is strictly prohibited on single and multi-family residential properties and nursing homes, schools (except athletic fields), daycare facilities and hospitals. For a list of approved sites see Section 26.1. PHOSTOXIN® metal phosphide fumigants are acted upon by atmospheric moisture to produce phosphine gas. PHOSTOXIN® tablets and pellets contain aluminum phosphide (AlP) as their active ingredient and will liberate phosphine via the following chemical reaction: AlP + 3H2O ---&gt; Al(OH)3 + PH3.

Phostoxin® Tablet Prepac

Diacon® D IGR is a ready-to-use formulation that can either be applied to commodities and feed prior to storage, top-dressed to commodities already stored, or used as an empty premise treatment for areas where commodities will be stored. The residual activity of DIACON®-D IGR prevents the emergence of stored product insects during storage of commodities/feed. (S)-Methoprene, the active ingredient in DIACON®-D IGR protects the stored commodity from damaging insects by interfering with the normal process of insect development. Unlike traditional pesticides, DIACON®-D IGR is not an adulticide, but its residual activity prevents the development of larval insects into viable reproducing adults. DIACON®-D IGR, when used according to the label directions, prevents adult emergence and subsequent new generations of insects. DIACON®-D IGR is effective against insect pests, such as: almond moth, Indian meal moth, lesser grain borer, sawtooth grain beetle, merchant grain beetle, red and confused flour beetle, and other insect pests that are affected by Insect Growth Regulators (IGR’s). If the commodity is known to be infested when it is initially being placed into storage, fumigate the commodity to eliminate the existing insect populations following filling of bins or other storage facilities. Then apply DIACON®-D IGR for residual protection.

DIACON® IGR inhibits growth of larvae of these insects: almond moth, Indian meal moth, lesser grain borer, sawtooth grain beetle, merchant grain beetle, red flour beetle, confused flour beetle, and other insect pests that are affected by Insect Growth Regulators (IGR’s). Treat existing insect populations with an adulticide, then apply DIACON® IGR for residual protection.

Diacon® IGR

Magtoxin® Spot Fumigant is used often for the protection of stored commodities from damage by insects. However, the Magtoxin® Prepac Spot Fumigant has been specially manufactured for the treatment of food and feed processing machinery and equipment to control insect infestations arising inside this equipment. Spot fumigation may be defined as the short-term treatment of processing machinery and equipment with toxic vapors for control of the adult and larval life stages of insects which infest food and feed particles remaining within the equipment. These spot treatments are intended to interrupt the life cycles of the insect pests. Since one or more life stages may survive this shortterm treatment, spot fumigants must be repeated periodically to control insect infestation.
