Technical Details & Test Data
- Foaming Capabilities & Compatibility
- There has been a desire to replace or reduce the use of traditional synthetic surfactants such as Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLES) due to the increasing awareness of its potential harmful effects and to use plant-based ingredients instead
- Purified Quillaja when used alone foams less than high-foaming surfactants, a common feature of mild surfactants. However, a blend with coco-glucoside (CG) using a ratio of 80:20 has a better foaming power than a blend prepared with SLES
- Compatible with Natural and Synthetic Polymers, Pigments & Powders (useful for preparing foundations)
- Interacts well with mineral salts and organic thickeners
- Produces small, homogeneous bubbles.
- Effects of Quillaja on Skin
- Skin is less greasy and less shiny
- Washes away skin impurities
- Product is mild on skin
- Skin is less sensitive
- Reduces sebum
- Pores are less evident
- No known adverse reactions
- Cleansing of the skin with traditional surfactant molecules always has a double-sided effect. While removing the excess sebum, the risks of irritating the skin thus stimulating further sebum production is probable.
- Residual surfactant trapped on the skin can worsen long-term irritation and increase discomfort.
