In aqueous systems, such as emulsion paints and plasters, the use of Deuteron XG prevents a deposition of the pigments and extenders as well as a separation of the liquid phase during storage. The applicability of the paints is improved. Deuteron XG is compatible with most binders and thickeners which are customary in the paint industry.Deuteron XG is insoluble in most organic liquids. The product is fully soluble in water and mixtures of organic liquids with a water proportion of at least 60 %. Pre-wetting of Deuteron XG with glycols at a ratio of 1 : 1 accelerates the swelling- and dissolution process. Aqueous solutions of Deuteron XG show a high pseudoplasticity. High rate of shear lowers the viscosity. Reducing the shear rate increases viscosity again. Solutions of Deuteron XG are stable regarding the pH-value and temperature. There is almost no change in stability from pH 2 – 12. Deuteron ST texturing agents can be used in both solvent-based and water-based coating systems. Potential applications include coil-coating systems and coatings for plastic surfaces. Deuteron ST-x can be used to customize the haptical and optical surface properties. They can also be used as a functional additive to reduce the coefficient of sliding friction.Deuteron ST texturing agents are powders. They give coatings a surface texture. The nature and degree of texturing depends on the applied film thickness and the ratio of texturing agent to binder.The texturing agents have different particle size distributions. The coarser grade induces more intense texturing with good maintenance of gloss. The finer grade gives finer texturing. Depending on the specific formulation this can lead to a reduction in the degree of gloss. The coarser fractions are responsible for the texturing, whilst the finer particles can lead to matting. back

Deuteron OG 8612 is based on polymethyl urea resin as an effective substance. The resin shows excellent hardness and abrasion resistance. It is resistant to most customary solvents and shows a good resistance to temperatures of up to 200 °C. When used as an additive in solvent based paint systems, Deuteron OG 8612 improves properties regarding slip and static friction and provides increased mechanical resistance. Compared with wax-based additives, Deuteron OG 8612 does not spoil the recoatability. The small particle size allows for its use in coating-systems which are applied in low film thickness. Deuteron OG 861x can reduce the gloss when used as a surface additive. This can be desired for certain applications. The gloss reduction is dependant on the type of employed binder, the applied film thickness and the selected dosage.Deuteron OG 8612 is recommended for use in solvent based coatings which are applied in low film thickness, e.g. can-coatings. Due to the good weather resistance and color fastness of the used polymer the product can also be used in coating systems for exterior applications. This additive is the alternative to wax dispersions with their well-known typical side-effects. back
