Beta-carotene is a carotenoid found in many plants such as green leafy and yellow plants. It is a fat-soluble, yellow-orange pigment that serves as a strong antioxidant and a source of vitamin A. Its two major functions are:

Fortification: Beta-carotene is a provitamin A, a precursor to the production of vitamin A in the body, and as such a safe source of vitamin A. It supports immune function, eye, skin and cardiovascular health. It also demonstrates strong antioxidant properties.
