Applications & Uses

- Applications
- Purpose of Use
- Matt primer for colored pre-coating on iron, steel, non-ferrous metals (e.g. aluminum, zinc), hard PVC and other substrates before subsequent coating with Delta® AntiCor 1K - Protop SG / HG.
- Anti-corrosion primer on iron and steel substrates.
- Indoor and outdoor use.
- Processing Temperature
- At least + 5° C
- During the application the surface temperature of the surfaces to be coated must be at least + 5° C
- In any case more than 3° C above the corresponding dew point.
- Drying
At 20°C / 60% Rel. LF:
- Fully dried and can be reworked after approx. 12 - 24 hours.
- Low temperatures and/or poor ventilation can have a negative effect on drying.
- Processing
Delta® AntiCor 1K-IntensivGrund can be applied with a brush, roller, high-pressure or air-assisted airless spraying method (air mix / air coat) (see table).

- Do not process in direct sunlight.
- Only carry out work in suitable weather conditions (e.g. not when the air humidity is too high, precipitation, fog, dampness or strong winds).
- Do not work at low ambient temperatures or when it is too cold (below the dew point).
- Coatings with Delta® AntiCor 1K - IntensivGrund should not be exposed to rain or other moisture influences without protection.
- In outdoor areas, a timely overhaul with a suitable top coat is recommended.
- Substrate Preparation
- The substrates/surfaces to be coated must be clean, dry and stable.
- Do not process in direct sunlight.
- Only carry out work in suitable weather conditions (e.g. not when the air humidity is too high, precipitation, fog, dampness or strong winds).
- Adhesion-impairing substances such as salt, oil, rubber abrasion, dust, dirt, rust, wax, silicone compounds or grease must be removed (see VOB DIN 18363, Part C).
- Check the subsurface for load-bearing capacity.
- Testing the load-bearing capacity of the old coating by means of solvent wetting with Delta® AntiCor 1K Thinner D.
- Coatings with Delta® AntiCor 1K - IntensivGrund should not be exposed to rain or other moisture influences without protection.
- In outdoor areas, a timely overhaul with a suitable top coat is recommended.
- Remove loose old coats of paint, clean old coats of paint with suitable agents (degreaser) and then sand thoroughly.
- Remove corrosion products and/or unstable old coatings manually / mechanically (standard cleanliness level St 2) or by blasting (standard cleanliness level Sa 2½) from iron, steel and zinc surfaces.
- Depending on the application, apply an intermediate and/or top coat of Delta® AntiCor 1K Protop SG / HG in the specified dilution ratio, depending on the coating process.
- Remove dust with an industrial vacuum or compressed air.
- Surfaces prepared in this way must be primed immediately.
- Non-ferrous metals (aluminum, copper, etc.) / rigid PVC: In the case of unfamiliar substrates, we always recommend creating a sample surface in consultation with our technical field service. An adhesion test according to DIN EN ISO 2409 must be carried out.
- Clean zinc, galvanized components and aluminum with an ammoniacal wetting agent wash using an abrasive fleece (e.g. Scotch Brite 7447) and then wash with clear water.
- Corners, sharp edges, screws and nuts should always be primed before carrying out the respective coating steps.
- Coating Structure
Iron Steel:
- Derust corroded iron and steel surfaces at least mechanically by hand or machine, in individual cases derust purely metallically (Sa 2 ½). If in doubt, consult our application engineering department.
- Depending on the degree of stress and the type of application, prime with Delta® AntiCor 1K-IntensivGrund, undiluted, or depending on the coating process in the specified dilution ratio.
- Depending on the application, apply an intermediate and/or top coat of Delta® AntiCor 1K Protop SG / HG in the specified dilution ratio, depending on the coating process.
Non-ferrous Metals (Aluminum, Copper, Etc.) / Rigid PVC:
- Wash aluminum surfaces with nitro thinner using a brush. Rub off with a clean cloth. Sand with abrasive fleece (e.g. Scotch Brite).
- Remove sanding dust with a cloth soaked in solvent; Control: cloths must no longer become darkly discolored due to sanding dust.
- Prime coat with Delta® AntiCor 1K-IntensivGrund, depending on the coating process in the specified dilution ratio.
- Depending on the application, apply an intermediate and/or top coat of Delta® AntiCor 1K Protop SG / HG in the specified dilution ratio, depending on the coating process.
Galvanized Substrates:
- Clean galvanized substrates using an ammoniacal wetting agent wash with the aid of an abrasive fleece (e.g. Scotch Brite) and then wash with clear water.
- Prime with Delta® AntiCor 1K-IntensivGrund depending on the coating process in the specified dilution ratio.
- Depending on the application, apply an intermediate and/or top coat of Delta® AntiCor 1K Protop SG / HG in the specified dilution ratio, depending on the coating process.
