    Features & Benefits

    Product Characteristics
    • Delta® Bühnen- und Bodenlasur 9.01 is a one-component one-pot system suitable as a priming, intermediate and finishing coat for all wood types in the interior.
    • It is a practically odorless, abrasion-resistant alternative to solvent containing systems especially for use on floors as well as stairs. Also suitable for varnishing furniture, chairs and children‘s toys thanks to its high scratch- resistance.
    • Delta® Bühnen- und Bodenlasur 9.01 complies with the standards of DIN EN 71, part 3, Safety for Children’s Toys.
    • Delta® Bühnen- und Bodenlasur 9.01 is compatible with many door seals but is not recommended for use together with sealing profiles containing plasticisers.
    • If the type of sealing is not known then a compatibility test has to be carried out.
    • Tropical wood can also be coated but because of the different characteristics of the various types of wood concerning substances contained and absorption capacity test applications should be carried out.
    • When coating wood containing tannins (i.e. oak) special care has to be taken when applying the colorless varnish, especially on horizontal surfaces, to avoid changes in the color when too much varnish may accumulate.

    Intended Use

Delta® Bühnen- und Bodenlasur 9.01 is used in the interior as a priming, intermediate and finishing coat to seal wood (interior doors, furniture, chairs, wooden toys) and wood-based materials (chipboard, OSB panels etc.) in both living and working areas with little to average wear.

    Consumption
    • 100 - 150 ml/m² per coat
    • Depending on the surface and type of application
    Preparation of Surfaces
    • Before applying the product surfaces must be clean and free from dust and grease as well as separating agents such as wax etc.
    • Wood humidity should not exceed 15% and be no less than 8%.
    • Any priming coats should dry and be sanded according to the manufacturers specifications.
    • It must be ensured that the priming coat is suitable to be overpainted with Delta® Bühnen and Boden Lasur.
    • This also applies to previous coatings in case of renovation works. In case of doubt we recommend to carry out a test coating.
    Application
    • Delta® Bühnen- und Bodenlasur 9.01 can be applied by brush, roller, spraying or using a flat brush.
    • The product, even when colorless, must be thoroughly stirred before use.
    • Before the first use the color must be checked.
    • When using different batches ensure that the color is identical, mix batches together if necessary when using large amounts of the product.
    • When coating untreated, absorbing surfaces carry out a priming coat diluted with 5-10% tap water, then an undiluted intermediate coat and an undiluted finishing coat.
    • If a priming coat has already been applied then it is not necessary to dilute the priming coat.
    • After the application of the priming coat and during renovation works sanding with 120-150 grit is recommended.
    • Delta® Bühnen- und Bodenlasur 9.01 may, thanks to its viscosity, be used in high-pressure spraying (cup gun).
    • Due to the large amount of product used when applying with airless or air assisted airless spray (Airmix, Airless plus) sags can form on vertical surfaces.
    • Test the product on a small area first.
    • When applying with a roller ensure that a short to middle-length pile roller be used, not a foam roller, and that the material be spread lightly and evenly.
    • The use of too much of the product or a partial accumulation of the product, for example on wood containing tannin, is to be avoided.
    • Dried material can be cleaned off tools by using universal or nitro thinners.
    • When cleaning the tools special care has to be taken as some of the thinners have very strong dissolving capacities.
    • The liquid product can be diluted with tap water (drinking water quality) up to a maximum of 10%.
    • Under no circumstances can washing water or dishwater be added or used for dilution.
    Consumption
    • Consumption depends on the type of application, the absorption capacity of the surface to be varnished and the type of construction element to be coated.
    • Without taking into consideration loss caused by the type of application the consumption lies between 100 - 150 ml/m² (on vertical surfaces max. 100ml/m²) which amounts to between 6 – 10 m²/l per coat.
    • Excessive use of the product (applying more than 200ml/m² per coat) or a partial accumulation of the product may influence the drying process, the appearance, the sanding capacity as well as the capacity to be overpainted, especially if the drying conditions are unfavorable.
    Drying Process
    • Surfaces are dust dry after 2-4 hours if the product is correctly applied under normal conditions Delta® Bühnen- und Bodenlasur 9.01 can be overpainted after approx. 4 - 6 hours.
    • If the drying period lasts longer than 24 hours the surface should be sanded (for example with sand paper with 240-280 grits) before applying the following coat.
    • Please note that adverse conditions such as high humidity, low ambient air temperatures and/or the temperature of the wooden construction element to be coated and low air circulation, may result in a significant delay in the drying process.
    • The drying periods are then to be extended accordingly.
    Chemical Resistance
    • Delta® Bühnen- und Bodenlasur 9.01 is tested according to DIN 68861, part 1 – Stress Group 1B. Behavior under chemical stress is described in Table 2.
