Duro-Shield 20 Acrylic Roof Coating can be used on the following roof substrates, after surface preparations have been completed:
- Single-ply membranes:
- Duro-Last® PVC (polyvinyl chloride)
- Other PVCs
- EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer)
- Hypalon® CSPE (chlorosulfonated polyethylene)
- Metal
- Mineral and granule-surfaced built up (BUR) and modified bitumen
- Smooth-surfaced built up (BUR) and modified bitumen
- Wood
Duro-Shield 10 Acrylic Roof Coating cannot be used over TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) whether it is primed or not.
- Installation
- General
- Only apply product when the ambient temperature is between 50º F (10° C) and 95º F (35° C). Product must be stored between 60º F (15° C) and 80º F (26° C) for 24 hours prior to installation.
- Do not apply when rain, cold or nightfall are imminent. Relative humidity must be below 80%.
- In extreme hot, windy, or dry conditions, wet the surface to be coated with a fine mist of clean water just before applying Duro-Shield 10 Acrylic Roof Coating.
- Thinning the product is not allowed.
- Use a brush, roller (1-inch nap, min.), or airless sprayer to apply. Best results are obtained when using an airless sprayer. Care should be taken when using an airless sprayer to apply DuroShield acrylic products. Wind-blown over-spray may damage property adjacent to the project site.
- Substrate Preparation
- Repair the substrate by following Substrate Preparation instructions within the DuroShield Acrylic Roof Coating Installation Guide.
- Cleaning Procedures
- Apply to surfaces which are clean, dry and free of oil, mildew, grease or any other contaminants. Follow Cleaning Procedures within the Duro-Shield Acrylic Roof Coating Installation Guide.
- Seam Treatment
- Repair all horizontal and vertical seams by following Seam Treatment instructions within the Duro-Shield Acrylic Roof Coating Installation Guide.
- Priming
- Follow Priming instructions within the DuroShield Acrylic Roof Coating Installation Guide.
- Coating
- Stir until an even consistency is achieved. A slow-speed drill with mixer attachment is recommended.
- 20-Year Warranty Application - Apply base coat at rate of 2 gallons (32 wet mils) per 100 square feet. Allow to dry completely. A minimum thickness of 16 dry mils must be achieved. Polyester Reinforcement Fabric must be laid into the base coat at all seams, transitions, or flashings while it is still wet. Apply a second (top) coat perpendicular to the base coat at rate of 1.75 gallons (28 wet mils) per 100 square feet. Allow to dry completely. A minimum thickness of 17 dry mils must be achieved for the top coat. Total application thickness will be 33 dry mils.
- Cleanup
- Uncured product may be removed by wiping with warm water, soap and a clean cloth.
- Application equipment should be cleaned immediately after use with warm water, soap and a clean cloth.

- Precautions
- Wear proper personal protective equipment, such as gloves and eye protection, per the SDS.
- Use only in well-ventilated areas and avoid breathing vapors.
- Keep container closed when not in use.
- Do not expose closed containers to extreme heat.
- Keep away from children.

Storage & Handling
- Storage And Handling
- Protect product from freezing.
- Product must not be shipped in temperatures less than 40°F (5°C).
- Store product between 60°F (16°C) and 80°F (27°C), out of direct sunlight, for maximum shelf life. Shelf life is one year in an unopened container, from date of manufacture, when following these recommended storage procedures.
