"Founded in 1967, ERG Aerospace Corporation has been manufacturing open-celled, solid ligament metal foams called Duocel®. Since then, ERG Aerospace Corporation has been producing foamed metals, carbons, and ceramics for the aerospace, defense, semiconductor manufacturing, biomedical, and scientific industries.

ERG is a proud member of the Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Program.

Up until the mid-1990’s, the majority of ERG’s business was sequestered for military applications and included the design and manufacture of critical foam components for reconnaissance satellites, nuclear weapons, ICBMs, and other aerospace systems. With the end of the Cold War, the advanced design and manufacturing technologies that ERG had perfected were then made available for commercial, scientific, and non-classified military applications.

Our primary facility has been in Oakland, CA since 1967, and in 2017 we added another facility for manufacturing operations in Sparks, NV. On January 1, 2022 ERG officially moved its corporate headquarters to Nevada; the California facility will continue to focus on production, engineering, R&D, and precision manufacturing.

Duocel® foams are unique materials which require special proprietary fabrication and manufacturing processes that ERG Aerospace corporation has developed over the last 50 years. 

Duocel

Duocel® Copper Foam is a rigid, three-dimensional network of interconnected copper ligaments that form cells with open pores. Duocel® Copper Foam contains completely solid ligaments (as opposed to sintered or hollow ligaments) which makes it stronger and more thermally conductive. Its properties are fully customizable, which allows its performance characteristics to be optimized for a broad range of applications. It is commonly used in applications that benefit from very high thermal conductivity and surface area, and from the nature-mimicking morphology of the rigid cellular structure.


Duocel® Copper Foam

Duocel® Metal Foam is a celled structure made up of solid ligaments and permeable pores. This matrix of cells and ligaments is fully customizable and can be optimized to meet the performance requirements of a broad range of applications. Metal foam, sometimes referred to as foamed metal, is commonly used in applications that benefit from a very high surface area and from the nature-mimicking morphology of the rigid cellular structure.


Duocel® Metal Foam

Duocel® Ceramic Foam is a skeletal material with a rigid, highly porous and permeable structure; all Duocel foams have controlled density of material per unit volume. Our most popular ceramic foam is silicon carbide. The matrix of cells and ligaments is completely repeatable, regular, and uniform throughout the entirety of the material.

Duocel® Carbon (RVC) Foam, also known as reticulated vitreous carbon (RVC) foam is a skeletal material with a rigid, highly porous and permeable structure; all Duocel foams have controlled density of material per unit volume. The matrix of cells and ligaments is completely repeatable, regular, and uniform throughout the RVC foam material.


Duocel® Carbon (RVC) Foam

Duocel® Aluminum Foam is a rigid, three-dimensional network of interconnected aluminum ligaments that form cells with open pores. Duocel® Aluminum Foam contains completely solid ligaments (as opposed to hollow ligaments) and its properties are fully customizable, which allows its performance characteristics to be optimized for a broad range of applications. Aluminum is ERG’s most popular Duocel® foam and is commonly used in applications that benefit from a lightweight structure, very high surface area, and from the nature-mimicking morphology of the rigid cellular structure.
