Applications
  • The tannin of Tara contains practically no coloring substances, and it therefore gives a very bright, lightresistant leather. In addition, Tara Powder imparts fullness and softness to the leather and a fine, closed grain which in the breaking elongation test resists a higher load than leathers which are tanned with other vegetable tannins.
  • It must be noted, however, that Tara Powder is sensitive to iron and that necessary precautions should therefore be taken.
  • Tara Powder is used in combination with other vegetable extracts for the tannage of sheep and goat skins and reptiles, and for the retannage of every kind of chrome leathers either with full or corrected grain, especially when they are to be finished in white or pastel tones.
  • Chrome leathers should normally be re-tanned with 4 - 7% Tara Powder, based on the shaved weight, whilst for a vegetable tannage up to 50% Tara Powder can be used in the extract mixture. Also, the Tara Powder is used in tanning and manufacturing of plastic, adhesives galvanize and Galvan plastics, maintenance of fishing tackles( due to bactericide and fungicide conditions).
  • Wine clarifying like Malta substitute (in order to improve the quality of beer), pharmaceutical industry( for their therapeutic qualities), metals protection, cosmetic area, oil-bearing drilling, gum elastic industry and as paints component ( giving anti corrosive action).
Uses and applications
  • Tannery: To obtain imputrescible leather.
  • Pharmaceutical Industry: For the production of gallic acid, an important component of many pharmaceutical medications.
  • Wines and Beers: For the production of Tannic Acid and Tannin Extract in the beer brewery and wine production.

Tara Powder is widely used in the pharmaceutical and leather tanning industries.
