Blush is the first plant growth regulator specifically developed to bring out the red in Fuji, Gala, Honeycrisp, McIntosh, Paulared, Pink Lady and other bi-color apple varieties. Featuring the active ingredient prohydrojasmon (PDJ), Blush promotes red fruit coloration by increasing anthocyanin, the naturally occurring red pigment found in apples. The result: redder, more marketable apples, allowing you to harvest a higher percentage of premium first-pick fruit.

Application Directions

SHAKE BEFORE USING

  • Apply BLUSH® in a sufficient amount of water to ensure thorough coverage of the tree canopy. Use properly calibrated spray equipment to ensure uniform coverage of fruit and foliage. Adjust water volumes based on plant size and spacing.
  • Make 1-2 applications of 26-52 fluid ounces per acre per year at 7-14 day intervals, 7-42 days prior to anticipated harvest (see BLUSH® Dilution Guide). The effectiveness of BLUSH® depends on crop variety and environmental conditions, e.g., temperature, light exposure, etc. BLUSH® enhances the red color on apple varieties that have difficulty developing color. Under conditions where red color development is acceptable (e.g., cultivars or strains that develop good red color, orchards that typically produce apples with sufficient red color development, environmental conditions in which red color development is satisfactory), use of BLUSH® may not result in significant additional red color.
  • Best results will be achieved by avoiding applications during the hottest part of the day. To maximize effectiveness, apply BLUSH® under slow-drying conditions, e.g., early morning or night. Do not apply BLUSH® to trees that are injured or under stress (e.g., heat, water, disease, nutrient, etc.).
