About Us

FLORENTAISE's ambition is to develop innovative products and components serving the cultivation, food and health of plants that are both environmentally friendly and effective. For more than 40 years, FLORENTAISE has been manufacturing and marketing potting soils, organic amendments and mulches.Innovation is at the heart of our strategy with a dual objective: to meet the performance needs of our customers with environmentally friendly products . We have always been pioneers in sustainable innovations . To further support this strategic focus, we have strengthened our marketing department and created an R&D department in 2012 with a 12,000m² experimentation station and a budget of 2.3 million euros invested over the past three years. Florentaise is a historic French presence, with 11 production sites and an average radius of action of 200 km, allowing us to optimize our logistics and ensure greater proximity with our customers. But it is also an international aura with a presence in 6 other countries and growth prospects of 20% per year.

Biofumur® makes for an excellent soil improver with its truly remarkable and rarely equalled biological stability index. It has a high humus content and very fine texture, regenerating the soil and making it easier to work. Biofumur® is made from two sources of organic matter, an animal source and a plant source: grape pomace. This composition offers gardeners and professional growers the double benefit of immediate fertilization, thanks to the animal manure, long-term fertilization and to the grape pomace.

Greenprotect® is a soil-mix component containing the mycelium of a unique fungus Trichoderma atroviride. The Trichoderma, combined with Hortifibre® in Greenprotect®, forms a protection around the root which strengthens the plant's immunity. This micro-organism is naturally present in the soil and has been selected for its beneficial effect on plant growth. The action that it has on the root zone encourages development. It also plays a protective role by preventing the proliferation of fungal pathogens in the substrate. This reduces the risk of disease and reduces the need for phytosanitary treatments. It is all the more effective in that it proliferates easily on the Hortifibre®.

Hortifibre® is patented wood fiber manufactured from PEFC-certified softwood woodchip. It is 100% renewable and has the lowest carbon footprint of all of the uncompressed raw materials used in soil mixes. This wood fiber is obtained via a thermo-mechanical process at high-temperature (120°C), which guarantees fibers that are safe to use and of consistent quality. Soil mixes containing Hortifibre® are well-aerated. It appreciably reduces the need to use peat and makes for a lighter substrate, allowing transport and filling costs to be significantly reduced.

Woodpeat® is considered a premix, because it can be added to any soil mix as a peat substitute. Woodpeat® may be used alone in which case it is a 100% renewable substrate with agronomic qualities identical to that of peat or as part of a mixture in order to reduce the quantity of peat required. Woodpeat® can be dried and pressed even more compactly than coconut fiber for easy and economic transport and a reduced carbon footprint.

Algiflore® is a blend of natural extracts from brown seaweed harvested in the region of Brittany in north-western France. The trace elements and proteins in the seaweed encourage early and dense root development and rapid plant recovery after repotting. This soil-mix component is a protein concentrate. It has the advantage of naturally combining trace elements which prevent deficiencies and proteins which provide a source of slow-release protein nitrogen to encourage the development of micro-organisms over time. It also provides calcium and magnesium which are essential for photosynthesis and plant growth. Finally, it contains alginates, which improve water and fertilizer retention.
