Technical Details & Test Data

Typical properties

Futeck™ E400 ETFE is a partially fluorinated polymer preferred for parts and components requiring very good mechanical properties. Fluteck™ E400 offers an excellent combination of properties typical of the fluoropolymer resins:

  • Service temperature : Fluteck™ E400 offers excellent resistance to continuous service temperatures-working conditions from -190°C up to 140°C (284°F) and, for limited periods, even to higher temperatures;
  • Chemical properties : Fluteck™ E400 has outstanding resistance to attack by chemicals and solvents that often cause rapid deterioration of other plastic material. It is inert to many strong mineral acids, inorganic bases, halogens and metal salt solution. Carboxylic acid, anhydrides, aldehydes, ketones, ethers, esters, chlorocarbons, and classic polymer solvent have little effect on fluteck™ E400.
  • Mechanical properties : Fluteck™ E400 is mechanical tougher and stiffer with higher cut-trough, abrasion and creep resistance than PTFE, FEP or PFA.

Storage & Handling

Storage & Handling

Fluteck™ E400 ETFE can be stored for a long period of life when kept in a clean and dry area at ambient temperature. Specific aging tests carried out on sample exposed to aging and atmospheric conditions, showed no changes in weight and volume. It is extremely hydrophobic and sheds water almost totally. A moisture adsorption of <0.03% in water at room temperature followed by 2 hours in boiling water. It is also virtually unaffected by oxygen, ozone and visible or UV light.
