Product Attributes

Galaxy 689 is an anionic surfactant. It has excellent foaming power and detergency property. It is also a good emulsifier. It is most effective under alkaline conditions (pH >7.5).It can be used with other anionic, non-ionic or amphoteric surfactants. However, due to its anionic character, it should not be used with cationic components like cationic surfactants, cationic dyes, etc.

Galaxy 689 is used for a wide range of applications including:

  • In tooth-paste as a foaming agent at concentration 1.5 - 3.0 % of the total weight
  • In bathing bars (syndet and combi-bars), body wash, liquid soap, shower gels, etc. as a surfactant and as a foaming agent
  • In pharmaceuticals as an emulsifier in ointment preparations, as a disintegration agent in tablets, and as an intermediate in synthesis of erythromycin estolate
  • In textile auxiliaries as a scouring agent
  • In emulsion polymerization as an emulsifying agent
  • In toilet bowl cleaners

Spills should be contained / collected and disposed off as per the regulations. Avoid ingestion and inhalation (where air concentration is high, appropriate mask is suggested) and also avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. In case of contact with eyes, seek adequate and timely medical attention.

  • Store in a clean and dry area away from moisture, sunlight and heat, store below 35°C.
  • Keep bags tightly closed.
  • In the original sealed bags and kept at suggested storage conditions, the product can be stored for at least 2 years.
  • Slight pH drop is possible over prolonged storage. In case of drop in pH, it is safe to use the material as long as the pH is ≥ 7.5.
  • Soft, easily breakable agglomerates may be formed on storage.
  • Since the material is hygroscopic in nature, use the product within a week after opening the bag.
  • During storage, to avoid lumping, stack not more than 7 bags one above the other and single pallet on ground or in rack.
  • During storage, jumbo bags / fiber drums should not be stacked one above the other.
