Medical car-treatment of mid to moderate Alitheimer's disease and various other memory impairments in particular those of vascular origin. Galanthamine belongs to closs of medications called acetylcholinesterase inhibitors. i works by increasing the amount of a certain natural substances in the brain needed for memory and thought. Galanthamine may improve the ablity to think and remember or slow the loss of these obilties in people who have AD. Cholinesterase inhibitors inhibit (block) the action of acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme responsible for the destructlon of acehylcholne. By blocking the enzyme that destroys acetylcholine Galanthamine increases the concentration of acetylcholne in the brain, and this increase s beleved to be responibie for the improvement in thinkina
