Applications & Uses
- Markets
- Application Method
- Surface Preparation
- All oil, dirt, dust and foreign contaminants must be removed to ensure a trouble-free bond to the substrate.
- An aggressive shot blast should be performed on the floor prior to application.
- All edges around columns or beams should be mechanically scarified.
- Termination points should be feather-edged and saw cut with the termination ending at the saw cut or blended into an epoxy floor overlay.
- Large cracks should be V-cut and filled with an appropriate filler.
- Expansion joints should also be filled with appropriate joint filler.
- If Perma-Top Cove is applied over an expansion joint, a single saw cut through the Perma-Top Cove upon curing will prevent fracturing.
- No primer is necessary, however, Perma-Top Cove adheres better to drywall if it is pre-primed with the A and B blend of this product.
- Drywall should be wiped clean of all joint compound dust.
- Mixing
- First, mix the liquids (Parts A & B) in an oversized container until streak-free.
- Although not necessary, this blend can be used to lightly coat the wall where Perma-Top Cove will be applied.
- After the liquids are thoroughly mixed, add aggregate Part C.
- Mix with slow speed mixing equipment such as a jiffy mixer or rotating bucket/stationary mixing blade assembly.
- Product must be mixed thoroughly to ensure aggregate is completely wetted out.
- No induction time is necessary.
- Improper mixing may result in product failure.
- Application
- Apply the thoroughly mixed material using a marginal trowel, cove base trowel, or another suitable tool at a minimum of 1/8” thick.
- Do not over-trowel the material as this may cause isolated blisters to form.
- Use methanol or isopropanol on the trowel for easier application.
- Maintain temperatures within the recommended ranges during the application and curing process.
- Re-coat or Topcoating
- If you opt to re-coat or topcoat this product, be sure that the coating has tacked off before recoating.
- Colder temperatures will require more cure time.
- Before re-coating or top-coating, check the coating to insure no epoxy blushes (a whitish, greasy film or deglossing) have developed.
- If a blush is present it must be removed with a standard detergent cleaner.
- Multiple coats of this product are compatible.
- Floor Cleaning
- Some cleaners may affect the color of the floor installed.
- Test each cleaner in a small area, utilizing your cleaning technique beore cleaning the entire surface.
- Coverage
- Dependant on style/type of cove.
- Generally, 1 kit will 0.25 cf.
