Applications
  • Sealing joints in construction, between masonry and carpentry and under wood, metal or PVC support.
  • Watertight joints inside and outside the constructions.
  • Treatment of vertical cracks.
  • Caulking around windows.
  • Finishing joints for walls, partitions and skirting boards.
  • Ceiling joints and around shutter casings.
Implementation

Preperation

The edges of the joint must be sound _possible patching to be done) and in general, not dusty, and degreased for smooth surfaces.

Manual

  • Caulking work must be carried out in accordance with DTU 44.1 / NFP85 210-1 standard. The edges of the joint must be sound _possible patching to be done) and in general, not dusty and degreased for smooth surfaces.
  • For joints that are too deep, limit the depth with a joint filler.
  • Cut the end of the nozzle, to a diameter slightly smaller than that of the joint.
  • Apply the sealant, with a cartridge gun, taking care to squeeze the sealant on the edges of the joint.
  • Immediately smooth the mastic with a spatula in order to obtain a good esthetic finish of the joint.
  • It is recommended not to apply the sealant at temperatures below +5°C, nor in the rain.
  • To limit my depth of the joint, set up a backing strip.

Consumption

Depending on the dimensions of the joint and the application, a 310 ml cartridge will make approximately a joint of one length _the length of the joint is expressed in meters):

max. 200% elongation on anodized aluminum and mortar.

Temperature resistance

From -20°C to +70°C test carried out after drying for 28 days 23°C)

Resistance

Very good for climatic aging, retains its mechanical properties over time.

Adhesion

Good on porous substrates concrete, plaster, cement, wood, fiber cement etc) and on smooth substrates metal, anodized aluminum, PVC etc)

Painting

Can be covered after drying, with a dispersion or glycerophtalic paint, a coating based on hydraulic binder or a plastic facing, subject to compatibility of the products, and compliance with professional rules for the repair of facades.

All these data are measured at 23°C and 50% relative humidity. Depending on the crosslinking conditions, these times may therefore vary.

GEB Acrybat - Setting Speed At 20°C And 50% Relative Humidity

1.2 mm the first 24 hours and 1.9 mm the first 48 hours

Comment
  • After a few minutes at 20°C, formation of a film on the surface of the mastic which protects it from the rain the joint should nevertheless be protected from driving rain).
  • Do not use for joints in permanent contact with water eg immersion). Do not use for horizontal joints at ground level or on flat roofs.
  • For joints on sheet steel subjected to major movements or for active cracks, we advise you to use a building silicone, a hybrid sealant or a polyurethane sealant from our range.
  • Prolonged storage at a higher temperature or freezing can, in some cases, modify the final characteristics of the product.
