GlobalFeed AQphos+

AQphos+ is a mineral substance-sourced raw material for animal nutrition. AQphos+ is used as a raw material for phosphorus input in the manufacture of aquaculture feed. Phosphorus is an essential mineral for proper bone mineralisation. Although fish have the capacity to gill up minerals from the water, phosphorus is usually a limiting mineral in most natural waters. If we add this to the low rate of absorption by this route, it becomes essential to incorporate an additional source of phosphorus in their diet.

    Product Highlights

AQphos+ is a technological and environmentally friendly phosphate. The phosphorus available, in commercial fish diets, has until recently come from the bones present in fish meal or other animal ingredients. However, the exponential growth of this market has resulted in the stagnation and increased costs of this natural resource. Therefore, the replacement of fishmeal by widely available vegetable or animal derived products is the most studied option in aquaculture today. This makes the combined use of phytase with a highly digestible source of inorganic phosphorus the most accurate choice for optimizing phosphorus retention efficiency and therefore reducing phosphorus excretion into the environment.

The most widely used source of inorganic phosphorus in aquaculture is monoammonium phosphate, which, despite being highly digestible, leads to environmental problems as a result of increased excretion of effluents with high levels of phosphorus and nitrogen, which contribute to the pollution of the aquatic ecosystem and cause eutrophication of natural waters.

GlobalFeed has developed a specific phosphate for aquaculture (available in two presentations: powder and grain), achieving apparent digestibility values very similar to monoammonium phosphate, but reducing the excretion of phosphorus and nitrogen and thus achieving more sustainable aquaculture.

Both the raw materials and the final product follow strict controls and are stored avoiding any type of contamination. The drying of the final product is carried out with natural gas to avoid any risk of contamination and at controlled, not high, temperatures, in order to avoid possible phosphorus backdraughts in the final products and to guarantee maximum availability/digestibility. From the environmental point of view, its manufacturing process is totally environmentally friendly and does not generate chemical waste.
