Applications & Uses

Application Method
Surface Preparation

All surfaces must be fully cured, structurally sound and free of weak or damaged surface conditions such as laitance or spalls. Surfaces must be clean, dry, frost-free, and free of any bond-inhibiting materials such as dust, dirt, oil, form release, algae, mildew, salts, efflorescence, or any other surface contamination.

Mixing

Mix with a clean, rust-free electric drill and paddle to a uniform consistency. Close container when not in use. Clean tools with water immediately after use.

Application

Apply only in well-ventilated areas to structurally sound, clean, dry, properly prepared and primed, frost-free surfaces.

Important - Always construct a mock-up under actual conditions of use to verify proper surface preparation, number of coats required, and approval of finished look by the appropriate authority.

DecoSeal is applied by roller with 2 thin coats, allow DecoSeal to dry between coats approximately 2-3 hours at 70°F and 50% RH. Protect from freezing for a minimum of 24 hours after application. Drying time will vary based on ambient air conditions, increased humidity and lower air temperatures will increase cure time. Avoid application in cool damp conditions.

Curing/Drying - The drying time of DecoSeal is dependent upon the air temperature and relative humidity. Under average drying conditions (70°F (21°C), at 55% R.H.), DecoSeal is dry to the touch in 2 hours. Protect work from rain for at least 24 hours.

Clean Up - Clean tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Remove dried material from tools and equipment mechanically.

Coverage

Coverage depends on the texture and porosity of the surface/substrate. For sealing new applications, the coverage is approximately 1200-1600 ft 2 per pail.

Limitations
  • Use DecoSeal only when surface and ambient temperatures are above 40°F (4°C) and below 100°F (38°C) during application and drying period.
  • Re-Sealing may be required based on exposure to extreme elements.
  • Not intended for substrates exposed to hydrostatic pressure, periodic or continuous water immersion
  • Store Decoplast materials in a cool, dry place.
  • Sloped surfaces: Refer to Decoplast details.
  • DecoSeal should not be used on weather-exposed horizontal or below grade surfaces or where immersion in water may occur.
  • Do not apply DecoSeal to frozen surfaces.
