Sweet Almond Milk – Hydrosoluble extract
Antioxidant - SoothingPrunus amygdalus dulcis The almond tree belongs to the family Rosaceae and is native from Central Asia. It is grown in the Mediterranean countries; we find some in the South of France. It grows in light, limestone and permeable soils. It is a 6 to 12m tree with white or pinkish flowers. They appear between February and March, before the leaves. The leaves are elliptical and bright green. The fruit is a light green, velvety drupe that usually contains only one seed: the almond. The bitter almond tree, whose fruit is toxic, is distinguished by a bigger fruit and a larger flower.

- Traditional and Medicinal Uses
All parts of the almond tree can be medically useful. Fresh leaves soothe ulcers, burns and bruises. The bark of the old branches turns out to be diuretic and vermifuge. The hull of the almond prevents sore throat and helps to fall asleep. However, we better know the sweet almond oil. Extracted from the nut, it has been used since Antiquity for its softening, moisturizing, healing and anti-inflammatory cosmetic properties. It softens and tones the skin and is used in dermatology. Butter and almond milk are also included in the composition of nourishing products. Crushed hulls serve as a natural exfoliant and almond glycoproteins offer firming and smoothing properties.

The Sweet Almond Milk forms a reparative active
Antioxidant
The almond is very rich in phenolic compounds such as anthocyanosides and flavonoids, and in vitamin C, which are very powerful anti-oxidant compounds.Antioxidant activity of almond: content in phenolics and DPPH assay
Polephenols (mg) DPPH (TE μmol/mg) Almond Seed Skin Extract 11.7 1.02 These compounds are able to directly neutralize free radicals, reduce the concentration of peroxide, repair oxidized membranes or reduce the production of reactive species. These molecules inhibit biological oxidation, which induces cell and tissue damage, thus accelerating the mechanisms of skin aging. Thus, the almond has high antioxidant capacities. Antioxidant power of almond: methanol extract of almond slowed the oxidation of methyl linoleate Thus, the Sweet Almond Milk helps to fight against free radicals and protects cells against oxidative damages.
The Sweet almond milk is a reparative active: it helps to fight against skin aging.
Soothing
The Sweet Almond Milk has also anti-inflammatory properties and can help to soothe and calm inflammations and irritations. Indeed, thanks to its rich anthocyanins in particular, the almond regulates the inflammatory response and inhibits the secretion of pro-inflammatory mediators, TNF-a and IL-10 for example.TNF - α
IL-10
Soothing effect of almond
- The Sweet Almond Milk helps to reduce inflammation by regulating the inflammatory response.
- The Sweet almond milk is a reparative active it helps to soothe and calm irritated skins.
Moisturizing
The almond has a moisturizing activity thanks to its richness in sugars, proteins and organic acids, which participate in the two ways of hydration of the skin: the active and passive pathways. In fact, the active phenomenon consists of bringing to the skin emollient agents such as humectants (agents that bind water to the surface of the skin) and the components of NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factors), water-soluble substances, hygroscopic and in the stratum corneum. The sugars, proteins, amino acids and organic acids present in the almond are hygroscopic molecules, which will capture the surrounding water particles and bind them to the surface of the skin. The Sweet almond milk thus acts in the active way of cutaneous hydration. On the other hand, the passive phenomenon involves substances that act as a barrier to TEWL (Trans- Epidermal Water Loss). The proteins and polysaccharides contained in the nut are natural polymers: they will then create a protective film on the stratum corneum, limiting the TEWL. They will reduce water losses by strengthening the impermeability of the epidermis. The Sweet almond milk therefore acts in the passive way of skin hydration. Thus, the Sweet Almond Milk helps to maintain a good degree of hydration, by connecting the surrounding water molecules. Therefore, it prevents the loss of water and therefore dehydration. By limiting evaporation and promoting water fixation, the organic acids, sugars, proteins and amino acids present in the Sweet almond milk help to regulate the flow of water and thus prevent dehydration of the dry skins. The Sweet Almond Milk is a reparative active: it helps to maintain the water homeostasis of the skin.
