Gumix Gum Arabic (Acacia) is the dried, gummy exudate from the stems or branches of Acacia senegal, seyal, or related species. The trees which produce commercial grades of Gum Arabic grow in different parts of Africa. To accelerate exudation, the bark is cut and the exudate allowed to dry, forming “tears” which are collected by hand every 10 days during the dry season, which varies from October to June. The product is then cleaned and milled or spray dried. In producing spray dried Gum Arabic, the gum solution is first clarified by centrifugation, then filtered, pasteurized in the case of enzyme-inactivated gum, and finally spray dried and subsequently screened for particle size uniformity.

Gumix Gum Arabic (Acacia)

Gumix Locust Bean Gum is processed from the seeds of the locust bean tree known as Ceratonia silique, which is widely cultivated in the Mediterranean area. These seeds, or kernels, are the commercial source of Locust Bean Gum, although only part of the seed is useful for that purpose. The center of the seed is composed of a hard yellow embryo germ portion (25% to 30%) that is surrounded by a large layer of white semi-transparent endosperm (35% to 45%). This whole mass is covered by a tenacious dark brown husk, or outer coating (30% to 35%). Production of a high-quality locust bean gum involves efficient removal of the outer husk, and the separation of the endosperm from the germ. The seeds must first be conditioned and then dehusked and degerminated by various milling operations. The pure endosperm is then ground into a fine flour.

Gumix Locust Bean Gum

Gumix Gum Tragacanth is the dried gum exuded by the stem elements of Astragalus gummifer, or other Asiatic species of Astragalus. This small, bushy perennial shrub is characterized by a relatively large tap root, which, along with the branches, is tapped for the gum. These plants grow wild in sections of the Asia Minor region. The gum exudes spontaneously from cuts made in the bark. The exudate is in the form of ribbons or flakes which become brittle upon drying. After collection, the gum is sorted by hand into various grades. The product is then cleaned, milled, and further processed to conform to sterility standards.

Gumix Gum Tragacanth

Gumix Alginates / Alginic Acid is a polysaccharide found in brown seaweeds, Phaeophyceae. Of those brown seaweeds, it is the kelp Macrocystis pyrifera that is primarily used in manufacture of Algin. This specie is found mainly in North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, and Africa, and grows in calm waters and in large, dense beds. Other seaweeds used in manufacture of Algin are Ascophyllum nodosum and Laminaria and Ecklonia.

Gumix Gellan Gum is a high-molecular weight carbohydrate. It is a naturally occurring polysaccharide industrially produced in a pure culture fermentation by the microorganism Sphingomonas elodea. Following fermentation, the broth is sterilized to prevent bacterial contamination, and Gellan Gum is recovered by precipitation with alcohol, drying, and milling.

Gumix Xanthan Gum is a high-molecular weight carbohydrate. It is a polysaccharide industrially produced in a pure culture fermentation by the microorganism Xanthomonas campestris. The microorganism is cultured in a well-aerated medium containing carbohydrates, a source of nitrogen, and appropriate essential trace elements. The Xanthomonas campestris culture is grown in several carefully-controlled successive stages prior to introduction into the final fermentation medium. Following fermentation, the broth is sterilized to prevent bacterial contamination, and xanthan gum is recovered by precipitation with alcohol, drying, and milling.

Gumix Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) also known as CMC or Cellulose Gum, is a water-soluble anionic linear polymer and derivative of cellulose, which is a product of cotton or wood pulp. CMC is produced by treating cellulose with sodium hydroxide and subsequently with sodium monochloroacetate and then washing it.

Gumix Guar Gum is derived from the ground endosperm part of the seed of the guar plant, Cyamopsis tetragonolobus, of the Leguminosae family. The plant is cultivated commercially in India and Pakistan. Roughly 14% to 16% of the seed is hull, 38% to 45% represents endosperm and 40% to 46% is germ. In commercial processing of Guar Gum, different methods are utilized to efficiently separate the guar endosperm from the hull and germ. The separated endosperm, containing 80% galactomannan, is ground to a fine particle size and sold as Guar Gum.
