"The company Harold Scholz & Co. GmbH was founded on April 30, 1902 by Karl Anton Rudolf Scholz as a trading company dealing with the import and export of natural iron oxides and lithopone - a very important white pigment at the time - as well as special pigments dealt with. At the end of the 1920s, Scholz entered into a very successful collaboration that has lasted to this day with Bayer AG now LANXESS. Bayer had succeeded in producing high-quality synthetic iron oxides using the aniline process. The Scholz company, which had a very good reputation on the market for natural iron oxides and had the best knowledge of the market, was won as a marketing partner. In the years that followed, the synthetic Bayer iron oxides - known today under the name BAYFERROX® - were marketed very successfully, particularly in the USA and Great Britain."
