Applications & Uses

Application Method
Compatible Substrates & Surfaces
Uses

Used as a weather coating on low slope or ponded roofs. May also be used as a protective coating on new and old metal and coated asphalt roofing and as a flashing in conjunction with smooth surface membranes, flat and corrugated metal roofing, roll roofing and mineral surface roofing.

Limitations

Do not use as a coating over coal-tar pitch roofing. Avoid use where solvent odors may taint food or other susceptible products. For ease of application during cold weather, condition material in warm temperature before use. Protect new work from open flame and adjacent welding activity.

Preparation

Metal: Surface must be dry, sound and free from rust, oil, grease or paint. Prime using 910-02 Primer and allow to dry before application of roof coating.

Asphalt Composition Roofing: Surface must be sound and free from moisture or frost. Remove all loose, spalled or cracked material and broom off all dust or dirt. Repair all cracks, holes or thin spots. On extremely dry or weathered roofing, apply a brush coating of Bakor 910-01 Primer. Allow to dry thoroughly before application of the roof coating.

Application

Stir well before use. Apply a coating of 810-14 Heavy Duty Asphalt Roof Coating to all lap seams and nail heads. Then apply by brush or asphalt spray equipment, a uniform coating to the entire surface at the rate of 3 l/m2 (6 gal. /100 ft2). Where a second coat is required, allow the first coat to dry thoroughly, and then apply the second coat at right angles to the first at same coverage rate as first coat.

Cleanup

Use mineral spirits.
