Surface Preparation
All steel surfaces shall be primed with compatible primer prior to fireproofing application. Phenolic modified alkyd primer (Albi 487S) or acrylic (Albi 490W) or equal. The surfaces must be clean and dry, free from rust, grease, dust or other contaminants that will interfere with proper bonding.
Airless Spray Equipment
Albi Clad TF+ can be applied by brush or spray application. We recommend application with airless spray equipment. Any pumps used must be rated for a minimum material delivery of 1.25 gallons per minute to provide an operating pressure of 3,000 p.s.i. (210 kg/cm2 ) Spray tips 0.021"- 0.025" Hose length 50' (15 m) maximum.
Application
Product must be mixed thoroughly with mechanical equipment to a smooth creamy consistency. DO NOT THIN. The Product should be applied at the required Dry Film Thickness per the appropriate UL design. Spray 20-45 Mils Wet Film Thickness per coat Approx. 2 to 4 hours re-coat time Fireproofing shall be applied in accordance with drawings or specifications, and shall conform to fire protective ratings as outlined by ASTM E-119 / UL263 and listed by Underwriter's Laboratories, Inc. Protect From Freeze.
Topcoating
Overcoating is not required. However, if a topcoat is required for colorcoding, esthetics or additional surface protection, a suitable topcoat shall be used. For unusually severe environments consult Albi for recommendations of appropriate topcoats.
Easy Application
Apply Albi Clad TF+ directly from the shipping container by means of airless spray equipment. The fire endurance rating specification determines the thickness of the coating. Albi Clad TF+ must be applied by qualified, factory trained applicators in accordance with the manufacturer’s printed instructions, and in compliance with specific test requirements. As a water-based compound, Albi Clad TF+ must be protected from freezing during shipping, storage, application and curing. Contact the manufacturer for specific application parameters. Standard spray application is 35-40 mils WFT per coat. Multiple coats per day can be applied, up to 75-100 mils WFT per day.
Proven Performance
For 75 years, Albi fireproofing materials have demonstrated superior performance worldwide in a range of extreme environments. Lightweight, ultrathin Albi Clad TF+ delivers long-term protection with outstanding hardness and durability. Albi developed the first water-based, thin film intumescent fireproofing material classified by Underwriters Laboratories. Albi Clad TF+ is the next generation in a long history of field-proven intumescent fireproofing materials. UL’s rigorous environmental and laboratory testing procedures assure you of a durable, high-performance intumescent fireproofing product.
Where To Specify
