Technical Details & Test Data
- New Age Skin Theory
- Middle-aged skin reactions and DAMPs
Sensitivity to UV rays of the epidermal keratinocytes was compared between s and newborn. Aged cells from 50's person showed to be more sensitive damage from UV rays (fi gure on the right), suggesting that more cells died because of exposure to UV rays. is now confirmed that dead cells release various factors called DAMPs gure below), causing infl ammatory reactions on cells in surrounding areas.areas. It has been reported that a type of DAMPs called denatured U1 RNA is released due to damage from UV rays, inducing intensive infl ammatory reactions on the skin and causing UV-induced erythema.
- Action to suppress the expression of inflammatory mediators caused by DAMPs
- Action to suppress the expression of inflammatory mediators caused by UV rays
UVB (15 mJ/cm2) was iradiated to cultured keratinocytes. The cultured supernatant containing DAMPs was added to non- UV irradiated keratinocytes pretreated with IZAYOI. IZAYOI suppressed the expression of IL-8 mRNA dose-dependently.
- Suppression of erythema caused by UV rays
A lotion containing 2% IZAYOI and a control lotion were applied on the inside area of an upper arm of 10 male participants in their 30's to 50's for 7 days. Then, simulated solar light including UV rays equivalent to 0.5 MED were irradiated to the applied area using a solar simulator. The erythema index was measured 24 hours after the UV rays irradiation. Less erythema was found in the IZAYOI applied area than the control applied area .
A lotion containing 2% IZAYOI and a control lotion were applied on the face of a 40's male participant for 7 days. He sunbathed for 10 minutes just before noon on the 8th day, which was sunny. Erythema was detec table at the control applied area after sunbathing, but was not at the IZAYOI applied area.
