STAR HIB® Plus shale inhibitor is a proprietary inhibitor designed for use in water-based (WBM) drilling fluids. It is used in formations that contain reactive clays such as smectite and mixed layer illite/smectite. Unlike conventional shale inhibitors, STAR HIB® Plus does not require KCl or other salts for inhibition.
