Product Benefits
  • CHEM-THANE DCP RR has Excellent color and gloss retention, low dirt pick-up and ease of graffiti removal. It has over 90% color and gloss retention in 4 year Black Box testing in Florida.
  • CHEM-THANE DCP RR has high resistance to salt corrosion and chemical attack and provides excellent abrasion and impact resistance which makes it ideal for use on railroad transportation equipment. Also available in semi-gloss and matte finishes. The EPL version has an extended potlife or working time of up to 1 1/2 hours, yet is hard in two hours.
  • CHEM-THANE DCP RR has Zero VOC content and does not contain any HAPS (Hazardous Air Pollutants).

Applications & Uses

Product Uses
  • CHEM-THANE DCP RR can achieve up to 10 mils DFT in a single coat application without bubbles. It is ideal for applications requiring fast turn around times and can be placed back in service or stenciled in 1 hour.
  • CHEM-THANE DCP RR will cure at temperatures as lows as minus 20°F and at high humidity.
  • CHEM-THANE DCP RR makes an excellent DTM Coating and has passed 2000 hours testing in a salt fog corrosion chamber. When tested over a moisture cure zinc rich primer such as Zinc-Thane 2805, it has exceeded 13,000 hours. It is made with an optimum amount of anticorrosive pigments which make it ideal for use as a direct to metal coating.
Surface Preparation

CHEM-THANE DCP RR can be applied to a zinc rich moisture cure urethane primer ZINCTHANE 2805 or to other compatible coatings. The receiving surface must be free of any dirt, dust, oil, grease, soluble salts, chalking or other contaminants. This can be achieved by either vacuum, air blow-off, SSPC SP-1 “solvent cleaning”, power washing or salt solubilizing agents if salts are present. If the receiving surface is hard and shiny it may be necessary to roughen the surface prior to applying CHEMTHANE “DCP”. For direct application to metal surfaces, a near white blast is required. When applying over inorganic zinc rich primers, a mist coat of .5-1.0 mils should be applied first.

Mixing

Mix Part A and Part B in equal parts (1:1) in a mixing pot and stir gently avoiding over mixing or creating a vortex that would introduce moisture. This could shorten the potlife. No induction time is required prior to use. An approximate 1/2 hour pot life will exist at 77°F and 50% humidity. Keep the mixing pot covered to prevent excess moisture from entering the mixed contents. At higher temperatures and humidities the pot life can be shorter.

Application Instructions

Application methods can be airless or spray from a holding pot or suitable two component mixing and metering equipment, or brush and roller. Care must be taken to mix no more material than can be used during pot life.

This product should not be applied on surfaces that are visibly wet or over ice formations. Do not apply coating when dew point is within 5°F. of the surface temperature.
