- Use
As a spray applied finish coat used for protection against weather and mild industrial fumes. Use on structural steel, tankage, equipment or any other surface exposed to weather and mild industrial fumes. For primed surfaces or for direct to metal surfaces. For shop application only.
- Limitations
Do not use for immersion service. Do not use in continuous service above 200°F (93°C).
- Surface Preparation
- Previously Painted Surfaces - Previous paint should be clean and well adhering. Surfaces should be scraped or sanded to remove any loose paint. Any bare surfaces should be appropriately primed. Hard, glossy surfaces should be sanded, brush blasted, or treated with a surface conditioner.
- New Surfaces - Surface should be dry and free of all dirt, oil or other surface contaminants. For best long-term performance, prime with Induron P 20 Primer or Induron P 30 Universal Primer. This product may be used direct to metal without priming.
- Application
- Airless Spray - Use .013-.017 tip; 60 mesh filter; 30:1 pump ratio at 40-60 psi operating air pressure.
- Conventional Spray - Follow instructions of equipment manufacturer for the application of alkyd paints.
- Roll - Not recommended.
- Brush - Not recommended.
Thinning
Not normally required. Thin up to 10% with K-1012 Industrial Thinner. Clean equipment with K-1012 Industrial Thinner. If dry spraying occurs in hot weather, use K-1113 Thinner in lieu of K-1012 Industrial Thinner.
Climate
Use this product only if the substrate temperature and ambient air temperature is above 40°F and is expected not to decrease for at least two hours after application. Also, the substrate temperature must be 5°F above the dewpoint for a period of at least two hours after application to avoid condensation occurring on wet paint.
