- Use
The very low surface tension and penetrating properties of E-Bond 100 will bond rust, penetrate discontinuities and holidays in old coatings and provide exceptional adhesion to any aged, corroded, or rusted substrate. The penetrating action will reinforce and bond heavy rust. When blasting is not practical or economically feasible, E-Bond 100 seals and unifies the surface of the substrate allowing the application of an appropriate coating system. E-Bond 100 will penetrate concrete, mitigating outgassing and improves the bond of epoxy topcoats. E-Bond 100 will perform as a one-coat sealer for concrete floors, sealing out oils and gas and making clean-up easier. E-Bond 100 is ideal as a primer for masonry swimming pools. Topcoat with Induron epoxies, urethanes, Aquanaut II and Induraguard 9200.
- Limitations
Not for service above 200°F (93°C). This product should be topcoated in most service. E-Bond 100 will turn amber if not topcoated.
- Surface Preparation
- Corroded Steel (Non-immersion) - Remove loose rust, scale and poorly adhered old paint using high pressure water blasting and/or hand and power tools. Remove oil and grease per SSPC-SP 1 Solvent Cleaning. For corrosive exposures, SSPC-SP 7/NACE 4 Brush-Off Blast Cleaning is recommended. Weathered Galvanized Steel and Aluminum (Non-immersion) — Remove oil and grease per SSPCSP 1 Solvent Cleaning.
- Old Paint - Remove all peeling and poorly adhered paint using high pressure water blasting and/or SSPC-SP 2/SSPC-SP 3 hand and power tool cleaning. Remove oil and grease per SSPC-SP 1 Solvent Cleaning. A test patch is recommended over existing coatings. Concrete- New concrete must cure for at least 28 days. Verify dryness by testing for moisture per “ASTM D4263 Plastic Sheet Method”. Substrate must be clean, dry and sound and free of all curing compounds, oils, greases or any other contaminants. Prepare the surface per ICRI 310.2 to achieve surface profile to meet a CSP 1-2.
- Application
Blend Ratio
One part by volume of E-Bond 100 Part A to one part of E-Bond 100 Part B by volume. Agitate until components are thoroughly mixed.
- Brush, Roll -Material has very low viscosity. Use a short nap roller cover or a high quality synthetic bristle brush.
- Mitt -Use a high quality paint mitt.
- Conventional Spray - Apply over porous rust in multiple passes until a glossy surface is achieved, Airless Spray: 30:1 pump or larger, 0.013-0.015” tip. When spraying, exercise caution so recommended film thickness is not exceeded.
Thinning
Do not thin. Clean-up with Induron K-1012 Industrial Thinner.
Climate
Use this product only if the substrate temperature and ambient air temperature is above 40°F and is expected not to decrease for at least two hours after application. Also, the substrate temperature must be 5°F above the dew point for a period of at least two hours after application.
