Allows for low odor and low migration printing of secondary food packages, and primary food packaging that functions as a suitable barrier between the foodstuff and the inks and coatings.
- The series is designed to dry trap inline KCMY with interstation curing technology.
- Process colors comply with ISO 2846-1 Allowing for printing to ISO-126478-2.
- Available in (7) color platform allowing to print Pantone® Plus Series Extended Gamut.
- 100% Solids with No VOC’s.
- Product Highlights
Ink Systems has dedicated manufacturing procedures specifically designed for all LM products. These procedures are in place to eliminate any cross contamination with non-LM UV printing ink components. Our commitment to our Good Manufacturing Practices assures consistent products.
Applications & Uses

- Cure Method
- Product Applications
- Low Migration inks are specifically designed for folding cartons that are printed on coated 1 and 2 side paperboards where no direct food contact is expected.
- Also suitable for some treated plastics.
- Not Intended for direct food contact applications.
- Can be overprinted with Aqueous and UV Coatings.
- Low odor and low migration properties depend on achieving adequate curing during the press run. Interstation curing is recommended.
- The customers’ end use requirements must also be addressed with the overprint coatings, fountain solutions, cleaning solvents, and procedures used.

Regulatory & Compliance
- Compliance & Regulatory
All components of LM Inks are listed in Annex 6 of the Swiss Ordinance on materials and articles in contact with food (SR817.023.21)
LM Inks are fully compliant with the following regulatory concerns:- CONEG - Heavy Metals Legislation
- REACH - Substances of Very High Concern
- Conflict Minerals - Outlined in the Dodd Frank Act
- California Proposition 65 **
- TSCA - All components are on TSCA inventory
- SARA Title III - Section 313
LM Inks must be applied utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) suitable for the customer’s requirements. The printer, converter and packer have the legal responsibility to
ensure that the finished package is suitable for it’s intended purpose and that the inks, coatings and other associated article components do not migrate into the food at levels to
exceed legal restrictions. We strongly recommend that the finished product be tested by a third-party analytical laboratory to ensure complete compliance.
Technical Details & Test Data
- Technical Considerations
- If non-LM inks were used on the prior printing job, the entire press should be thoroughly cleaned prior to printing with LM inks. Often, running LM varnish thorough the units is necessary to remove contaminates from non-compliant inks and solvents.
- We strongly recommend contacting Ink Systems for assistance in modifying the LM series inks. No foreign ingredients should ever be added to these inks as these may diminish the migratory or odor properties.
- The LM inks dry by a photochemical process in which high-intensity ultraviolet light is used to instantly cure or “dry” the inks and coatings. This immediate curing process eliminates any oxidation, thus reducing the odor from off gassing of any drying components.
- This printing process requires a suitable inline Aqueous or UV coating to achieve durable results.
- LM Inks are NOT designed to come into direct contact with food.
- LM inks are NOT suitable for printing on highly absorbent substrate such as light weight uncoated offset stock, bond paper, forms etc. Absorption of LM inks into these types of substrates can hinder complete cure.
Storage & Handling
- Clean-Up and Storage
- Avoid prolonged contact with skin (see SDS for additional information)
- Shelf life in factory sealed containers is (1) year in normal ambient conditions
- Always keep containers covered when not in use
- Store at temperatures between 15 - 35C
- Do not re-use fountain contaminated products
- Wash-up with specific low migration cleaning agents
- Dispose of leftovers in accordance with State and Local Government regulations
