One Amazing Berry

The açai (pronounced ‘a-sah-ee’) berry is dark purple, loaded with powerful antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, healthy fatty acids and fiber, and is now making headlines throughout North America and Europe for its astounding health and energy benefits. The US National Academy of Sciences noted that “Those who consume [açai fruit] often appear strong and full of energy.” Surfers along the Brazilian coast use açai as an energy drink and it is a popular energy booster at the juice bars lining Rio’s beaches.

Açai contains 10 to 30 times more antioxidants than red wine. The superoxide radical is considered the most dangerous free radical of all, partly because it contributes to formation of other free radicals. Açai has the highest capacity of any fruit or vegetable to fight the superoxide radical. In an in vitro study on purified human neutrophil cells, açai inhibited formation of reactive oxygen species: The active antioxidant compounds in the freeze-dried açai are able to enter human cells in a fully functional form and perform oxygen quenching at extremely low doses.

Açai berries are nutritional powerhouses with:

  • Vitamin A, vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium.
  • A unique combination of monounsaturated fats, dietary fiber and phytosterols such as beta-sitosterol (noted for cholesterol-lowering properties).
  • An almost perfect essential amino acid profile, similar to egg protein.
  • About 44 grams of fiber per 100 grams, making açai a great source of fiber.
  • Low sugar content.
  • Low sodium content.
  • Proteins that inhibit salivary alpha-amylase (sAA) activity, which is an indicator of stress. This is probably why Brazilians feel good when taking açai.
  • Compounds that inhibit LPS-induced nitric oxide, a marker of inflammation. Açai is a “potent anti-inflammatory substance and thus may find applications in allergic and auto-immune disorders

The açai is also an antioxidant phenomenon, with:

  • The highest ORAC value of any fruit or vegetable, up to102,700 ORAC / 100 grams.
  • The highest superoxide radical scavenging activity at 161,400 units per 100 grams.
  • A very high HORAC (hydroxyl radical averting capacity). The hydroxyl radical is a short-lived but extremely damaging free radical.
  • Sustainably harvested by groups dedicated to creating work for indigenous peoples, protecting the Amazon rainforest and creating sustainable alternatives to destructive forestry practices.
Important Fatty Acids

Açai berries are rich in fatty acids — highly unusual in a fruit — including oleic acid (as found in olives), palmitic acid and linolenic acid. Oleic acid helps keep cell membranes supple, improving overall function.

InovoBiologic Açai

Fresh or frozen açai does not travel well and can easily lose most of its antioxidant value during transport. InovoBiologic has taken the care needed to produce a very high ORAC açai extract, containing the full range of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and phytonutrients of this Amazonian superberry

  • Available as a 4:1 extract.
  • Derived from wild harvested, organic açai and processed within 24 hours.
  • No added sugar, preservatives.
  • Standardized to NLT 1.5% anthocyanins Superior quality control guarantees raw material stability and viability.
  • Manufactured to GMP standards.
  • Rigorously tested to ensure no heavy metal or other contamination
