Water Conditioning
Hard water contains cations like calcium and magnesium that can negatively affect some plant protection products such as glyphosate. Left unchecked hard water cations form insoluble cationglyphosate compounds which can reduce herbicide performance by around 30%.
Marlin will compete with hard water cations and prevent them from bonding with glyphosate in the tank. This competitive action ensures that the glyphosate remains soluble and can enter the leaf of a target plant. To further improve water quality, Marlin also contains acidifying agents, which reduce and buffer pH to the optimum 5 – 6. This will prevent alkaline water from breaking down the active ingredients (Alkaline hydrolysis)
Additional Benefits
- The Marlin formulation benefits from the inclusion of Alkyl polyglucoside (APG) surfactants / emulsifiers that further improve the speed of kill. This is especially useful since the removal of Tallow Amines from glyphosate formulations.
- Foaming when filling the sprayer can be common in hard water areas so Marlin has a built-in anti - foaming agent.
