Features & Benefits

Advantages
  • Zinc is not sufficiently protected (recommend LITHSOLVENT Cleaner 702 or 707). For cast iron, a temperature of 30°C must not be exceeded.
  • Serves to dissolve scale, water scale,
  • Rust deposits and other coatings.
  • Solubility in water 20%.
  • In aqueous solution, LITHSOLVENT Cleaner 706 hydrolyzes to form ammonium hydrogen sulfate.
  • The hydrolysis rate is low at room temperature and can be practically neglected. At higher temperatures, however, hydrolysis proceeds significantly faster.
  • At 80°C it amounts to 5 - 6 % of the dissolved acid per hour. For this reason, a temperature of 60°C should not be exceeded.
Advantages of LITHSOLVENT Cleaning Concentrates

LITHSOLVENT cleaners are intended for customers who do not have the option to prepare their own cleaning solutions. Generally, they are inhibited methanesulfonic, formic, hydrochloric, amidosulfonic, citric and phosphoric acids, formulated for different cleaning temperatures and materials.

LITHSOLVENT Cleaner 706 - Advantages of Lithsolvent Cleaning Concentrates

Product Highlights
  • Effective at temperatures up to 90°C.
  • Does not affect the dissolution of incrustations and deposits.
  • Easily dissolves deposits of calcium carbonate (so-called scale and water scale) and weak rust deposits. Gypsum (calcium sulfate), silicates, thick layers of rust and calcium phosphate are difficult to dissolve.

Applications & Uses

Compatible Substrates & Surfaces
Applications
  • LITHSOLVENT Cleaner 706 is used to dissolve boiler scales, incrustations, rust layers and other scales at temperatures up to max. 60°C. Special inhibitors contained in the product ensure the protection of metallic materials against acid attacks.
  • The following kinds of metal are protected: iron, steel, chromium and CrNi steels, aluminum, tin and lead as well as alloys on copper basis.
  • The protection is not sufficient for zinc. (In this case we recommend LITHSOLVENT Cleaner 702 resp. 707). For cast iron a temperature of 30°C should not be exceeded.
  • The composition of scales may differ according to the circumstances. Calcium carbonate (so called boiler scale or incrustation) and also light rust easily dissolve. Gypsum (calcium sulfate), silicates, thick rust layers and calcium phosphate are difficult to dissolve.
Addition and Dosing
  • LITHSOLVENT Cleaner 706 is soluble in 1L  water up to approx. 210 g. LITHSOLVENT Cleaner 706 hydrolyzes in aqueous solution by forming ammonium bisulfate. The rate of hydrolysis is low at ambient temperature and can be neglected. At higher temperature the hydrolysis, however, considerably increases. At 80°C it is 5 to 6% of the dissolved acid per hour. For this reason a temperature of 60°C should not be exceeded.
  • Dependent on the quantity of scale to be removed a 5 - 10% aqueous solution of LITHSOLVENT Cleaner 706 is used. To dissolve 1 kg boiler scale on average 1.5 - 2 kg LITHSOLVENT Cleaner 706 is required.
  • For scales mainly consisting of carbonate the cleaning process is completed when the gas formation (carbonic acid) has stopped. Due to the gas formation the installations and rooms have always to be well aerated.
  • The duration of an acidification should not exceed 6 hours. In case there are still residual scales after the treatment, the acidification has to be repeated, if necessary.
  • After acidification the object has to be carefully rinsed whereby loose sludge is removed, too. Finally, it is recommended to neutralize with a 1 % sodium carbonate or caustic soda solution at ambient temperature or slight heating. Duration: 1 - 2 hours.
