Identification & Functionality

Features & Benefits

Features
  • KÖSTER TS transparent is a mechanically very resistant, easy to clean surface sealant for concrete or for KÖSTER coatings such as KÖSTER EM-VS with broadcast.
  • KÖSTER TS transparent distinguishes itself through high chemical, mechanical, and ultraviolet resistance. Due to its fast curing time the surface can be opened for traffic after 24 hours.
  • Chemical resistant
  • Transparent
  • U.V. resistant
  • Good mechanical resistance

Applications & Uses

Compatible Substrates & Surfaces
Fields of Application
  • This product can be used to seal and paint floor and wall surfaces made of concrete, cementitious screeds, and plasters in indoor areas such as shops, garages, etc.
  • Exterior use is only allowed in conjunction with the KÖSTER BTG System.
  • In the BTG System a maximum consumption of 200 - 300 g / m² is applied to the substrate and immediately broadcast to rejection with KÖSTER Color Chips (consumption approximately 300 g / m²).
  • This cured layer is subsequently coated with KÖSTER TS transparent (consumption 0.15 - 0.2 kg / m²).
  • For further details please see the technical system specifications for the KÖSTER BTG System.
Substrate
  • The substrate must be dry, free of loose particles as well as free of oil and grease.
  • Dust and other bond inhibiting substances must be completely removed.
Application
  • Both A and B components must be brought to a temperature between + 15 °C and + 25 °C before application.
  • The components are mixed thoroughly at least 3 min with a mechanical stirring device (below 400 rpm) until a homogeneous consistency is reached.
  • To avoid defects due to insufficient mixing, repot the material and mix it again.
  • Special care is to be taken that material sticking to the sides of the mixing vessel is mixed in.
  • After defining the dew point the components are mixed.
  • The surface and room temperature must be at least + 3 °C above the dew point during and for 24 hours after application.
  • Application is done with a squeegee or trowel in two layers.
  • Consumption per layer is 1.3 kg / m². A second layer must be applied within 24 hours of the first.
  • After the material has been emptied onto the substrate, it can be smoothed with a squeegee.
  • Immediately after smoothing the material should be deaerated with a spiked roller rolled in two directions 90° to another.
  • Spiked shoes must be worn during application while walking over the fresh material.
Consumption
  • Approx. 0.1 - 0.2 g / m.
  • Consumption may vary depending on the roughness of the surface.
Cleaning

Clean tools immediately after use with KÖSTER Universal Cleaner.

Other
  • Changes in temperature may change the viscosity and the curing time.
  • Therefore: adhere strictly to instructions in the Technical Datasheet.
  • Process coatings only at constant or falling temperatures.
  • Low temperatures extent, high temperatures shorten the pot life and curing. Distance to dew point has to be 3°C during processing and curing.
  • Protect coatings against moisture during the curing time.
Coverage

0.1kg/m - 0.2kg/m depending on the situation.

Safety & Health

Safety
  • Avoid inhaling the fumes and skin contact.
  • Wear protective clothing, gloves and goggles during processing and application of the material.
  • Make sure the room is well ventilated.
  • In case of skin contact, wash off the material immediately with lots of soap and water. In case of eye contact, flush eyes immediately and thoroughly with water or preferably an emergency eye wash bottle.
  • Consult a physician.
  • During processing and application of the material, do not eat, smoke, or handle open flames.
  • The warnings and safety recommendations on the packaging and on the Material Safety Data Sheet and the regulations of relevant professional organizations must be observed and obeyed.
