KURARAY POVAL™ 5-82 (Old name: Poval® PVA 405) by Kuraray is polyvinyl alcohol. It exhibits specific colloid-chemical and excellent film-forming properties, and a high tensile strength. In addition, the polymers are highly elastic and resistant to heat and organic solvents. KURARAY POVAL™ 5-82 is used as a component of remoistenable adhesives, e.g. for postage stamps, partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol grades ensure that the adhesive strength is not impaired even in fluctuating air humidity. Above all, the range of applications is based on the chemical properties, especially on the reactivity of the numerous hydroxyl groups with substances such as reactive resins, aldehydes and other reactive compounds.

KURARAY POVAL™ 28-99 LA by Kuraray is a water-soluble, polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) grade manufactured by alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. It exhibits high molecular weight, good cohesion and low ash (sodium acetate) content. It possesses good adhesion to fibers-, fillers- and pigments. KURARAY POVAL™ 28-99 LA is recommended for adhesive for flooring webs, PSA labels and also in remoistenable adhesives which are employed mainly in the paper processing industry and films applications.

KURARAY POVAL™ 30-98 by Kuraray is a fully saponified polyvinyl alcohol having varying degree of polymerization and hydrolysis. It possesses good penetration capacity and good adhesion properties. It is an odorless, water-soluble polymer manufactured by alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. It provides high cohesion, toughness, low electrostatic charging and re-dissolving capacity of the dried film in water. KURARAY POVAL™ 30-98 is designed for use in pressure sensitive adhesive labels. Its aqueous solution can be added to polymer emulsions already stabilized with polyvinyl alcohol which affects the extension of the open time, setting speed and rheology. Complies with EU Directive 67/548/EC.

KURARAY POVAL™ 9-88 is partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) grade by Kuraray. It is suitable for modification of emulsion adhesives and remoistenable adhesives in the paper processing industry. It is used as an adhesive promoter. It offers good cohesion and adhesion to fibers, fillers and pigments. It exhibits good bonding strength and pigment binding capacity. Aqueous solution of KURARAY POVAL™ 9-88 can be added to polymer emulsion which is already stabilized with polyvinyl alcohol to extend the open time, increase setting speed and influence the rheology. It is recommended for use in postage stamps and labels.

It exhibits high molecular weight, good cohesion, good adhesion to fibers-, fillers- and pigments. It affects the extension of the open time, increase of the setting speed and influence on the rheology. It is biodegradable and recyclable. KURARAY POVAL™ 17-94 NA is used in producing silicon base paper that are further used as release paper for PSA labels and also in remoistenable adhesives which are employed mainly in the paper processing industry, films applications.

KURARAY POVAL™ 8-88 S2 is recommended for the modification of emulsion adhesives.

KURARAY POVAL™ 23-88 E by Kuraray is partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) grade. It offers good cohesion and adhesion to fibers, fillers and pigments. It exhibits good bonding strength and pigment binding capacity. It is suitable for modification of emulsion adhesives and remoistenable adhesives in the paper processing industry. KURARAY POVAL™ 23-88 CM by Kuraray is polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) grade modified with cationic monomer. It exhibits good affinity to cellulose such as pulp & cotton and high adhesion strength to hydrophobic substances. KURARAY POVAL™ 23-88 CM is recommended for use in adhesives.

KURARAY POVAL™ 30-75 by Kuraray is a biodegradable and recyclable polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) having varying degree of polymerization and hydrolysis. It is a water-soluble polymer manufactured by alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. It is notable for its good bonding strength and pigment binding capacity because PVAs have good cohesion property. It shows good adhesion to fibers, fillers and pigments. It features excellent film forming characteristics, high tensile strength and elasticity, as well as resistance against organic solvents and dispersing power. KURARAY POVAL™ 30-75 is used in a similar manner as natural products such as casein as well as starch and its degraded derivatives (for example dextrin) as raw material to produce aqueous adhesive solution. For the modification of aqueous adhesives its aqueous solution can be added to polymer emulsions already stabilized with polyvinyl alcohol which affects the extension of the open time, increase of the setting speed and influence on the rheology. It is a water-soluble polymer manufactured by alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. It has good bonding strength and pigment binding capacity because PVAs have good cohesion and good adhesion to fibers, fillers as well as pigments. KURARAY POVAL™ 3-85 S4 is recommended for the modification of emulsion adhesives.

KURARAY POVAL™ 32-97 KL by Kuraray is a modified polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) grade with varying degrees of polymerization, hydrolysis and co-monomers. The carboxylate polymer exhibits strong hydrophilic property even at low degree of hydrolysis. Films produced from this grade are soft and flexible at 20°C, 65% RH and under high humidity. KURARAY POVAL™ 32-97 KL is recommended for use in adhesives.

KURARAY POVAL™ 27-96 by Kuraray is a medium hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) grade. It exhibits good bonding strength and pigment binding capacity. It is used as an adhesive promoter.
