Product Background

ORMESIA® is an extract that is rich in polyphenols obtained from Maracuja seeds that are washed, dried and delipidated. This extraction process, patented by Laboratoires Expanscience, is friendly to both people and the environment.

ORMESIA®  prepares and protects the skin from damaging effects of pollutants and sun. The skin is constantly and directly exposed to a combination of different stressing elements (sun exposure, atmospheric pollutants and indoor pollution) that deplete and weaken it. The visible consequences can be numerous: dryness, premature aging, sagging, dull complexion, imperfections, pigment disorders, etc.

Hormesis is a positive response (stimulation) of the biological defenses in the event of exposure to low doses of toxins or other stressors. ORMESIA® harnesses the hormesis pathway by activating the natural self-defense systems and preventing the deleterious effects of IN and OUTdoor pollutants, as well as the adverse effects of the sun rays. ORMESIA® allows to recover a detoxified skin which breathes and looks radiant again

ORMESIA® protects the skin from IN & OUT door pollutants as well as stress related to the sun’s rays:

1/ Prevention of radiation-related stress: UV: Formulation with 0.1% ORMESIA® protects DNA by 54.4%(UVA+UVB radiated keratinocytes) and inhibits production of ROS 47% reduction (UVA+UVB radiated keratinocytes). IR: ORMESIA® at 0.1% inhibits the production of MMP1 induced by IR radiation 14%* reduction (IR radiated fibroblasts)

2/ Prevention of IN and OUT door pollutants related stress: Ozone: test on reconstructed human epidermis with ORMESIA® formulated at 3% vs placebo. Colorimetric dosage of 8-oxo-dg and MDA.

Bap and nicotine: tests on explants (45 y.o. subject) treated with ORMESIA® formulated at 3% vs placebo. Dosage of filaggrin, loricrin, fibronectin, collagen 1 and elastin.

Clinical study

• Randomized study, double-blind vs. placebo, conducted in Guangzhou (China).

• 30 Asian women between the ages of 30 and 50 (each subject observed her own results); 15 smokers and 15 non-smokers.

• Follow-up of the level of exposure to pollution via the quantification of heavy metals in their hair (D28 pollution level > D0).

• Twice daily half-facial application of a cream formulated with 3% ORMESIA® and a placebo cream for 28 days.

• Quantification of the oxidative stress markers induced by the sun’s rays or pollution (sampling from the cheeks: MDA, swabs/ carbonylated proteins, D-Squame).
